Signed a basement remodel contract on 4/22/21, and paid the required 40% up front. It is now 8/16/21 and still no work has been started. Sales rep (Hunter) was pleasant and responsive, and worked with me as we revised my initial layout ideas to get to a final plan. Everything has been downhill from there. Hunter provided me with my project manager (PM) contact info. I talked with the PM several times, met him once onsite in late May/early June to review the basement layout. I was told there were 4-5 deck installs ahead of my project, and was given a start date of 3-4 weeks (the begining of July). July: I called Wood Construction and found out I had a new project manager (Brennen); I was told the delay was due to a management shake-up and some staff turnover, and I was next in line for their "basement crew". I asked about starting the framing on my project while also doing finishing work on current basement project. I arranged another site visit to start marking wall locations. Got a visit from 2 men who looked over the basement, took some notes, but did no wall markups. August: I just called Wood Construction and their main phone number is now "temporarily unavailable", so there is no way to talk with anyone. Things are not looking good. I will update this post as things change.

Stay away from Wood Construction and Remodeling, LLC. They are ripoff artists. We signed a contract with Hunter Beedle of Wood Construction for over $69K for a whole house remodel on 2/26/21, and paid them more than 40 percent down. The contract called for work to begin within 30 days and completion 90 days after that. That was 5 months ago. Three different "project managers" have been out to the house and met with us, and a couple of times they even brought supposed subcontractors, but still no work has been done. No permits pulled, no timeline of when work would even start, let alone finish, no detailed plans but the ones we drew up ourselves. It is now clear that Wood never intended to do anything but steal our money. Every new "project manager" and/or "supervisor" we have talked to has given us the same scripted spiel: "The problems you've had were not with me. That was my predecessor, and I'll take care of you." After hearing this at least 4 times, it became obvious that they were just shining us on. On July 1st, I hand-delivered (also sent by certified mail) a letter to Wood cancelling the contract and demanding a refund. The next day, someone named Mike Johnson called us and said he was from the Nashville office of Wood and that he wanted to discuss how to fix our problem. We told him the fix was simple, just give us our money back. There's nothing to discuss. Then we hung up. We have heard nothing from Wood since then. The really hilarious bit is that when we attempted a few days later to call Mike Johnson back, the number he supposedly called from was not in service. The project manager said Johnson had a new phone number, but no one answered that number either. On July 16th, we had another phone conversation with Mike Johnson, who agreed that we had been badly treated and he promised our money would be refunded by noon the following Monday. But at 9:30 am that morning, Wood "vice president" Jeff called and began reeling off a string of lies that didn't end until we hung up on him. No refund. On the advice of our attorney, we have filed a criminal complaint with the Washington County Sheriff's Office, as well as a civil complaint with the Consumer Affairs Division of the Tennessee Attorney General's Office. Our attorney thinks we can easily prevail in civil litigation and get a judgement against Wood, but as an LLC (Limited Liability Company) Wood most likely has very few assets we can go after, so collecting on a judgement is probably not possible. We are not the only people Wood has ripped off this way. Look at Wood's recent Google reviews for other examples. Aside from a bunch of obviously fake 5 star reviews, all of the other reviews are the minimum 1 star and they make it clear that on the rare occasions that Wood does any work at all, it is shoddy and usually incomplete. Stay far away from these ripoff artists.

The remodel went smoothly and it’s even more beautiful than I imagined! I’d hated how my bathroom looked for a while, and the layout felt really cramped but I didn’t really know what to do about it. Now it’s open and gorgeous AND more functional! We couldn’t recommend these guys enough.

A-plus! My bathroom remodel turned out beautifully! Excellent communication and professionalism throughout the process - from demolition to finish! Jake and Joe showed up on time and projects were completed as estimated. Worksite was kept tidy and cleaned at the end of each day. They had great ideas and resources to keep my remodel within budget. Thanks so much!

I was very pleased from the beginning to the end. One important factor for me was communication. They communicated with me what to expect, who was doing the different tasks of the job and were open to all questions. The workers were respectful of my property and did not mind that I would observe the tasks being completed.

It was excellent. The work itself, the gentlemen who came in and took everything out, and got the drywall back were great. They made sure everything was done properly. He was fabulous. Everybody was wonderful.
