My husband had to leave but our daughter was there the entire time. He asked her if she had rubber gloves and Clorox. She told him no. After he supposedly finished the job we paid him with a check for $750. Then, after further examination of the closet above the top shelf using a ladder, we discovered that the original sheetrock was still on the walls and the bottom had only been cleansed with Clorox and painted. We asked our daughter if he had removed any sheetrock from the condo. He had not. He scrubbed it with Clorox. We had even given him a piece of sheetrock that was left over from a previous job to use. He also did not paint the shelves or the ceiling that he did replace with new sheetrock. When we found out what had happened, my husband contacted him and asked him why he had not replaced the sheetrock. He said he didn't need to replace it. My husband then told him that the purpose of hiring him was to replace all of the sheetrock so it would not mold. We had an insurance adjuster come out to tell us what needed to be done. He finally agreed to return our check after we told him we were going to stop payment on it. Then he left a message asking to be paid for the work he had done. It does not seem very honest to accept the amount of money he bid to do the job...when in fact he did NOT do the job that was agreed upon. This is the second time we have used him. The first time was to replace the ceiling in the same closet. That time he bid $300, again verbally. When it came time to pay him he said the price was $350. Other than that his work was good the first time. However, his verbal agreements are not worth anything. I guess we should have gotten an estimate in writing. He can do good work but in my opinion is not very trustworthy and needs to be watched. AND BE SURE TO GET A WRITTEN ESTIMATE. WHAT IS VERY IRONIC ABOUT ALL OF THIS IS THAT WE GAVE HIM A RECOMMENDATION TO ANGIE'S LIST SO HE COULD BECOME A MEMBER. UPDATE 7-19-2017 Just an update on the previous review. Today we were threatened with a lien on our condo by Mr. Deardorff after he did not do the work that was agreed upon. So in order to stop his harassment we agreed to give him $200 for putting sheetrock in the closet ceiling and cleaning one wall with Clorox. This is unfair and unprofessional on his part. HE DID NOT DO THE WORK HE WAS HIRED TO DO. In my opinion he does not deserve to be paid. Now we have to hire someone else to come replace the sheetrock and paint and take care of the job he did not complete. There is something wrong with this picture??!!!

He is there when he says he is going to be there. He gives you an estimate on the cost of the project. He was in the range usually a little lower to the the estimate. He has a good demeanor and explains everything to you. He explains it in a way that someone that isn't handy would understand.

It went well. The handyman came over for an initial consultation where he walked us through the process of exactly how we wanted the roof to look and where we could get the materials. We approved everything before he began the project. On the project day he brought an assistant and they were right to work. They worked the entire day to finish as much as they could. They built a steel structure so they saudered together the entire frame. The project was finished in two days! These guys were great and I would suggest using him again.
