Hired a man & crew & they made things worse. Installed wood that I don't know where it came from. Nothing matched up. Deck is worse now and needs to be replaced.

I submitted a request for quote on a Saturday. Steve called me within an hour and came out on Monday to provide quote. I accepted that day and he completed the same day at a reasonable price. Quality workmanship. Glad I found them!

I hired Wood Renovation to power wash and stain my deck as well as replace some rotted boards. They did a good job replacing the boards, but they also missed a rotted board, which was not replaced. They did a good job power washing and staining the floor of the deck, but they only used one coat of solid stain on the floor, which was not enough. The Sherwin Williams stain they used even says to use two coats. The ornamental caps that sit on top of the balusters were covered with old, chipping paint, and they did not sand them prior to staining. The owner, Steve, indicated that he normally doesn't include sanding in a bid, but he did come out and try to sand off some of the chipping paint. They also used a paint sprayer for the deck railings, which did not completely cover any of the railings and instead got on my landscaping. I had to have Steve come back out two different times to touch up every railing. Fortunately, he was very nice and accommodating about it. Overall, the quality of the work was not worth $996.
Response from Wood Renovation Inc
"Had me stand around for two hour looking for any missed spots.Had me touching up stuff that didn't need a thing. He never said anything about a second coat because it did not need it We had gone over the deck three times.. He did not mention any other boards he wanted to replaced, We had already put in double the amount of wood that was contracted for. The flowers were right up next to the deck when we pulled the tarps a little bit of stain got on a few flowers. Took a nasty crappy deck and turned it in to a million dollars. Saved him about $7000 not having to tear it down and replace it.Responsiveness and Punctuality a B what a joke! Its people like this that make me want to retire!"

They set up a time, came out and got the job done as planned. Easy to work with. The next day i asked for the leftover stain in case I need to replace some deck boards. The owner, Steve, set up a time to come back by my house and dropped it off. Thanks

Steve and his crew were very good folks, and pleasant to have working at our home. They answered our questions, and worked with us to ensure it was done the way we wanted it to be. The end result is beautiful. Job well done! We would use them again absolutely, and will tell others about them as well.

We had a wonderful experience having Wood Renovation, Inc finish our 6' cedar privacy fence. The fence is 4 years old. They power washed it one day then treated the wood with a stain sealant. They were timely, meticulous in every detail, respectful of our yard, and thoroughly professional. I highly recommend Steve at Wood Renovation.

I've used Steve and Wood Renovation before, and had added to my fence, and built a new deck with privacy screens. Steve and his crew came the day after we spoke to power wash the deck and fencing. He even power washed 3 small teak tables I wanted to oil with teak oil for free. The following day it was dry enough to stain, and he and the crew did a fast and superb job of staining. They are very thorough and careful, taping off all the windows, siding, and doors to ensure stain does not get on areas not to be stained. The product they use is very long lasting and looks fabulous. No other provider will do my deck and fence when it's time to restain. These guys are great! Friendly, caring, professional, and skilled.
The treatment of the existing deck boards and replacement of the floor deck boards was done well. There is one board that the provider indicated did not need to be replaced that is cracked and spongy. The hand rail was not completed to our satisfaction. The miters/joins on the angles on some of the boards are either not meeting and on one section the hand rail board is not centered with the 4x4 pole that supports the deck due to the manner in which the adjoining board was cut for the miter. The provider indicated that the reason the handrail boards were uneven and not joining well was due to the age of the deck (8 years), however the hand rail, previous to the repair, fit well. The provider could have used the existing hand rail boards as a template for the new boards but did not from the appearance of the hand rail. Jack did come back one time to attempt to make repairs but even the new miters on the boards he replaced still did not join correctly. Contacted Jack to have one of the home owners meet him at the house for a walk through to discuss concerns which was scheduled. The owners were unable to meet at the arranged time and attempted to reschedule with Jack. Two messages have since been left with Jack to resolve the concerns with no response.
Response from Wood Renovation Inc
"The old boards were rotten, warpped, and full of wood bees. New boards take time to cure and form a marriage with the old deck. Wood Renevators replaced more board footage than contracted in an attempt to satisfy the homeowner."

They came out right away and gave us a quote. It was a great price. When I called to tell them I wanted them to do the job Steve said it might be 2 weeks. They got to the deck after a week! They covered all our plants windows and doors. They did a great job. The deck looks so much better! I highly recommend them!
We had them out to refinish our wood deck, which had a fading coat of stain and some badly cracking & warped boards. I spoke with Steve on the phone several times through the process, and in addition to being very easy to get a hold of, he answered all of my questions in great detail. Their quote was less expensive than a quote I got from another highly regarded company, and this was even with them replacing a large number of boards which the other company did not offer. The first session was to pressure wash the deck, and then a couple of days later they came back out to apply the sealant. They used a TWP and paraffin oil mixture that Steve said would last about 3 years; this varies though based on the deck location and the weather. When they were done, the deck looked great, despite the new boards which are a lighter color. When I asked about the new deck boards they came back to leave a bottle of sealant behind that can be applied later in the year with a brush to touch up these boards, since they soak in the sealant at a different rate than the old boards. The only slight complaint I have is that when they screwed in the new deck boards, they didn't pre-drill the holes, so there are some cracks around the screw heads, but I am quite happy with the results overall.

They did a great job at a fair price and I will use them again in the future. They came out within hours of when I called for an estimate and after I made the decision to use their services they did the job the week.

We have used them previously for approximately ten years. They do a great job and are always on time. The color they use is a custom blend color which lasts a long time. We will continue to use them in the future.

It seems to be really good. We are waiting to see the dried finish results but so far it looks like they did a really good job. They were very prompt and they were able to make time for us even though they had other jobs. They were very good at working around the weather. They seemed to be very polite and very professional. They were open to questions. We would use them again.

My deck looks sooo much better, and the price was very reasonable compared to what I have paid for stain jobs in the past. The only reason for the "B" on responsiveness is I didn't have any communication on when they would be coming to do the work (after I had mailed in my initial deposit). A call a day or so before would have been appreciated. Even with this, I would definitely use them again!

Jack Bowman and crew were extremely professional and courteous. The services were complete over the course of two days. Pressure washing and treatment of our fence required the crew to have to go into our neighbors' yards and we had absolutely no complaints. They even took the time to contact the neighbors beforehand to make them aware. I highly recommend this company without reservation! Definitely will contact again for any future needs!

Wood Renovations was one of three AL service providers that we had quote a powerwashing and re-stain of our wood deck. They were prompt in providing a written estimate and offered a discount for AL membership. Ultimately the price was about 1/3 less than our next lowest quote. After we paid a $200 deposit for the work, the company called to schedule a time to come out and powerwash on the first day and stain on the second. They performed the work as scheduled, did a great job and left no messes behind for us to deal with. In summary, a low cost provider, quality work, on time, no hassles. I would use them again.

Researched Wood Renovation's reviews on Angie's List and noted it's high ratings. Requested an estimate from Steve, the owner. He was punctual for our appointment- provided insight into the deck's maintenance history (this home was purchased in Nov. 2009- prior owners provided no maintenance history- so, it is assumed the deck had not been maintained). Steve recommended the type of stain they will mix and customize for each job and type of wood. He provided his quote in writing and honored the Angie's List discount. I did not seek out additional estimates- hired Wood Renovation and scheduled the work. Steve was not present at the 2 day job- sent 2 emploiyees who washed the deck on the first day, then replaced several boards and were to secure others with screws or nails and stain the deck floor and steps up to the deck, as the railings are painted. Their truck was parked in front of my house in Fishers- they mixed the stain with water at/ near their truck location and reported they had "spilled a little" in the street. I was not presnet when this occurred, it was reported to me later. Whan I arrived home later in the afternoon, it was apparent that liquid matching the stain color of my deck had been spilled near my driveway and had trickled down, then pooled in front of my neighbor's driveway entrance. No liquid came in contact with anyone's private property- and the stain did not alter the asphalt, but caused discoloration. Other than being a little unsightly, I did not think any remediation was necessary, since the stain will fade/ wear away from constant traffic on the street (it is the only entrance/ exit to a cul-de-sac) and weather. However, my neighbors became livid regarding the stain- and alleged it was going to ruin an upcoming dinner event at their home in several weeks. They insisted the stain be removed or covered up, as it was detracting from the beauty of their house and landscaping- and the street's discoloration was unacceptable. The street is actually the property of the town of Fishers- it is not owned or maintained by the HOA. I accepted responsibility for the stain, although I did not see it happen and did not participate in the occurrence. After many, many phone calls and emails with the HOA and Steve, it was agreed that Wood Renovation would (at no cost) cover the stain with asphalt sealer. Wood Renovation applied it appropriately (in my opinion), and even though the street is highly travelled there are no tire tracks though the sealer and it is not messy. But my neightbors became infuritated because the sealer is black, against asphalt that is light gray and "became a sea of black". Since I have chosen to no longer communicate with those neighbors, I do not know if they are seeking additional remediation from Wood Renovation- I do know they met with the HOA Board to discuss this and complain. This was an unfortunate incident, which Wood Renovation truly did try to make right. However, I will not hire this company again for any wood staining or deck maintenance work. Regarding the deck, some of the stain did not "take" on some of the boards, although it is not real noticeable. And recently several of the boards seem to be warping and are becoming loose again.
Response from Wood Renovation Inc
"Are you kidding me. Some treatment was spilled it has happened one other time in 20 years.I personally took care of the problem. Did what I said I would do,when I said I was going to do it. Plus saved the customer from having to replace a deck that had not been maintain. She is trying to say that the boards warped from are treatment,Just not true. Plus the treatment is not going to blend completly on new boards. The neighbors tried to say the spill was going to ruin a wedding,Personally I think that marriage is already in trouble.Steve Burton Owner"
