They were able to do the very specialized repair that needed to be done to my steel plate that none of the other companies would even really give me a safe bid on. I would absolutely use their services again in the future if I need to.

JD and his crew were fantastic! The estimate was competitive with other bidders and we felt the value of their services was very high. We had extensive wood rot damage around most of the windows in our house. JD and his crew were very detailed and careful as they removed the old windows, repaired the wood rot, and installed the new windows. The locations that were leaking before the window installation are leaking no more. Wood Rot Solutions also repaired rot on the exterior of our house, including trim and siding. Everything was caulked well and it was easy for the painters once they arrive. (Note: painting was not part of Wood Rot Solutions scope.) JD and his crew were very professional. They kept the interior of the house clean and even worked around our child's naptimes. We are VERY happy with our new windows.

I contacted JD. The first question he had for me was "Are you selling your home or living in it? We are living in it. He explained often times buyers or seller use him to give estimates without intentions of hiring him. I asked if he would come out and give an estimate for repairing woodrot around my home and if I needed to be home (as my husband and I both have full time jobs.) He said that we did not need to be home for the quote but if we decided to hire his company we would need to do a walk around in person. The intial estimate included a lot of rot around windows. We replaced the windows altogether, so we asked him to remove that portion from the quote. My husband met JD to perform the walk around and negoitated the price of the work. Both parties agreed to the work to be done, and the price. We had no idea negotiating the price was negoitating the quality of work. We had to schedule out a bit due to schedules being full. JD asked to work 23rd- 25th of October, but because a final inspection was required by both parties, we could not accomodate that date. My husband and JD emailed back and forth about the dates and agreed upon the 28th. On the 23rd, JD calls my business line upset and yelling at me that we were not there to raise the garage door and let them get started and that I needed to find my husband. I called my husband to make sure of the date. We emailed JD the email chain agreeing on the 28th. He said that he had never made a mistake before. Which I find hard to believe, as we all make mistakes, however, do not yell at me for your mistake. A job that he said for take at least 2-3 days they finished in one day on the 28th. I had not arranged to be there all day on the 28th because it was suppose to take a couple days to complete. When I got home and walked around the house the wood rot had clearly not all been repaired. I took out the contract that was signed to make sure I was not mistaken. No, 1/4th of the work had been done and he was insisting they completed the job. My husband and JD went back and forth via email about the disagreement on the amount of work completed, amount left, and the quality of work. I was completely appalled by the professionalism or lack thereof with this owner. During the intial visit to provide a quote JD took pictures to show the wood rot. I asked about the pictures and what was not repaired and he told me "let's not go off the pictures, I take those for referrence." I simply asked why would you take pictures of wood rot and not repair it? He tried to say it was to referrence "patch work" other people had done. There were no pictures of patch work, but of wood rot. I hired a company to repair the wood rot and that was not done. He came out on the 3rd, and said that he wanted me to show him what I wanted done. Again, not rocket science, I wanted the wood rot repaired. When I asked him if he felt the work on our contract was done he said yes. I asked him to show me the 14- 1 x2's he replaced. Well, I didnt replace 14. But there were 14 that were rotted. I asked him to walk me through the contract and he would not. He repeatedly said "just show me what you want me to do, and I will send you another invoice." The catch with the contract was, the one that my husband signed and they sent back reflecting the deposit had been received was different from the one he sent on October 28th. He had sent us a third contract with the orginal date that we signed on (9/16/13) and the contract had been changed. Thank Goodness I had the orginials. My husband had been called into work on the 3rd, and JD yelled at me for not letting him know my husband would not be there for the meeting. "I drove 70 miles... " I told him that was fine, I was the homeowner, I did not need my husband there as I had been on all the email chains, etc. I was very unhappy with the poor quality of work. I will say I did have my father-in-law present to be a third party witness. He was offended when I pointed out the poor quality of work. When he started yelling at me with threats to sue to me, I asked him to leave. He will not be getting the remainder of the money, I do not want him doing anymore work on my house, as I have to hire someone to repair the work he did. I am confident he will respond to this with a completely different story. However, if there is a way for anyone looking to hire him to contact me through this site please do. I will share the details, pictures his and mine and back up this with the documented proof. I would not recommend hiring this dishonest, poor quality company. I will be completely honest, he emailed my husband last night yet another contract where the remainder of the balance is zero.

Arrived on time, JD and another worker quickly removed the window and the rotten wood. The new frame was placed and the same glass replaced. The finished product is beautiful. The cost was very reasonable. He never pressured us to buy a new window which would have cost much more. They cleaned up all the rotten wood and there was no trace that they had even been in the house. Thanks JD it was beautifully done.
The whole process went very smooth. From the first estimate until completion. JD is very easy to communicate with, and is very professional, and a man of his word.
We have several estimates on replacing our window and doors. Wood Rot was the highest of the three by a several thousand dollars. We choose Wood Rot solutions anyway. And very glad that we did. His service and workmanship is well worth the extra money.
WE could not be any happier with our windows, and doors. And would recommend that if you want things done right, I would pay the extra cost and use Wood Rot Solutions.
Mark and Lynette Baker
Excellent. J.D. was professional and dependable. He showed me ahead of time what needed to be done. He even had to deal with a hidden wasp nest on my roof.

He did a great job on a Saturday with one worker. In fact, I asked him to come earlier as he was booked for a few weeks out. He obliged. They came out on time and were friendly to us and our kids. He explained what he was doing in sufficient detail so that I could understand his work. He finished everything the same day and he cleaned up all of the mess. His work was professionally done and I am extremely pleased with the results. I felt his price was fair.
I referred a co-worker to him and my co-worker tells me he, too, was very satisfied with the work.

Excellent service. Trustworthy. Premises were vacant and he went in, did the work, locked up, and called me to let me know all was done. Didn't want me to pay until I checked over the work. Prompt. Highly recommend.
JD replied to my phone inquiry in a timely manner, and came and gave me an estimate for the work. His knowledge and explanations of what he would do reassured me. I had also seen his van around my neighborhood. He gave me a bid and then followed that up with an email contract.
We set a date for the work to be done; however, the weather did not quite cooperate. It rained overnight before the first day of our schedule; when it quit for a while in the a.m., JD came by himself to at least get started. However, the rain started again, so we had to postpone until the next day. He and his helper arrived on time and got right to work. I was amazed that they completed the entire job on time and even cleaned up after themselves before they left.
Even though I did not need to buy new merchandise from him JD treated me as an important customer. I would recommend him to others with window problems.
Response from Wood Rot Solutions
"Pleasure to do this job. Customer needed to have warranty sashes installed in preparation for putting her house on the market. She had done her homework and received Jeldwen/Caradco replacement sashes, had them painted ready for install. We will do any job no matter if the customer buys the product from us or not. Product warranty remains with the customer."

JD and his crew are professional and efficient. He replaces the involved woodrot part rather than patches the area.
The craftsmanship is excellent. He had custom sashes made for window involvement and even replaced alarm magnets
recessed in some of the sashes.
JD also returned for further repair as promised after our painter uncovered additional woodrot powerwashing the
house in prepping it. The one thing I would advise for those having their house painted is to schedule the woodrot
repair after the house is prepped/powerwashed and all involved areas are exposed so that you can have all woodrot repaired at once.
This should save you scheduling headaches as JD is very busy.

Very knowledgeable, friendly, flexible. Easy to work with. Very fair prices compared to other quotes we got. Excellent workmanship. JD reminds me of Mike Holmes on "Holmes on Homes" show. He watches everyone working for him, and if he doesn't like the way they are doing something he will let them know right away and fix it. A pleasure to work with and will look to them for any future work we need done.
For such a massive project it went very smoothly. We are so pleased with J.D. and his crew. From the time we met J.D. to discuss window options we felt very comfortable about hiring him. He took the time to give us the do's and don't and in's and out's on replacement windows. The important thing here is that he wasn't just a salesman. He was the owner and the lead installer. As soon as we signed the contract we learned that we picked the right guy and company. We were worried that when they removed the windows and saw some the massive amounts of wood rot damage they would come back and increase their fee. Not the case, J.D. stated up front that it would all be covered in the original bid. We did have to replace a couple of boards around a few windows but he was always upfront about it and there were no hidden costs.
We found his crew to be professional and very respectful of our property. They provided daily clean-up as well. His slogan of "Fix it Once - Not Twice" was on target. They measured every cut twice and sometimes three times to make sure it was the right length. He was always available to answer questions and we found him to be very knowledgeable about the work he performs. And besides that, he was just a good guy. I would highly recommend Wood Rot Solutions to any one needing replacement windows and wood rot services.
JD came out because we have 4 crank windows and one was not working. We also had a bedroom window that didn't appear to be sealed properly. He ended up walking around and looking at each window in the house to evaluate any issues and he repaired the 1 crank window. He provided an estimate to replace 1 and repair another. We hired him and he ordered the window. All of his reviews were great but when we went to put the deposit down he had us make the check out to a person. Then when we received an email about the deposit it had a different persons name in it and it didn't match the original name. I called him and asked him about it because it made me a little uncomfortable. He communicated that he had a company taking care of his books some years back and they stole from him and it resulted in bad credit in the company name so the way around that over the years had been to make the check out to his mom or whomever but because she was going to be on vacation when my check arrived he had given me another name which I think was his sisters. Not a big deal after all and I appreciated his honesty. When he came back to do the actual work they were very professional and very thorough. Clean up was excellent. I would highly recommend them.
VinylMax Hyde Park triple pane windows installed March 2013.

Here is what happened since:

Right Kitchen corner casement window leaked. Taped and then replaced.

The left Kitchen corner casement window started leaking. It was taped. Just the window, not the frame replaced. Now window is leaking again, I taped it, new window ordered.

Cause: We were told the plant was shutdown and the machines that make the windows were recalibrated incorrectly.

November (over Thanksgiving) 2013 we checked to see how the cold weather affected the new windows. The glass seemed good, but we noticed that cold air was coming in from in between the sashes of the upper and lower windows. Upon further inspection we noticed gaps in between sash and frame that are noticeably visible.

JD came out and so did a representative from GABM to inspect. Everyone agreed there were gaps in between sashes, and frames and/or sashes seem to be bowed from front to back and side to side. There is also movement of the windows up and down when locked. You can measure up to if not more than 1/4 inch of play in windows when moving the entire locked window up and down.

JD was told by GABM that the windows needed to be shimmed. JD shimmed the center of the breakfast area window but determined that it was not going to fix the problem. After shimming the window JD determined that it would be too tight and the function of the window would be compromised. He left without reassembling the trim that he removed, and I had to put it back up.

Many more emails and phone conversations were exchanged between JD, John of GABM and myself. Months had passed and we still had no resolution to our window issues. I asked John if the factory representative could come out and inspect the windows. I actually measured the windows (based on VinylMax criteria) for John of GABM and sent him a detailed spreadsheet with all measurements. I also sent him pictures of the windows so he could see how they were gapped and bowed.

On May 13, 2014 Dennis of VinylMax came out with John to look over our window issues. JD was invited but did not come. Dennis recommended that his window guy come out and inspect and resolve this issue. Dennis said it would be done at no cost to us. It took another month or so before Dennis? window person came out. When he did I asked if he was going to replace the windows or fix them. He checked with a contact at VinylMax and they said to shim them. John worked on the 5 larger downstairs windows, but said he would have to come back to fix the others. In July he also ordered new corner casement windows. This makes the 3rd set of casements. When he replaced them, I got my hose out and sprayed the windows, they leaked. He ordered the fourth set and installed them in September when he finished the upstairs windows. It took a couple of trips for John to complete the process.

Thanksgiving 2014 came around and cold weather set in again. I checked the windows and I saw gaps in the windows and cold air is still coming through the window sashes. I called Dennis and left him several messages. He returned my calls on 12/9/2014. He said that he could not do anything for me anymore because they removed that authority from him. He said I would have to work with the warranty department and that I would have to contact them. He also told me that the windows were ordered incorrectly and installed incorrectly.

I contacted the warranty department at VinylMax. They sent me a letter based on the inspection of the windows and the installation done by JD. It states they were indeed ordered and installed incorrectly. Because of this, the warranty on the windows is now void. This means our continuing issues with the windows are no longer under warranty.

In a nutshell this is where we are. Almost 2 years have passed and after spending around $9,000 we have windows that will have to be replaced.

Wood Rot Solutions indeed! Not only did JD and his crew fix my window, they worked to solve the mystery of where the water was coming from and were able to correct the problem. These guys found the source of the water, which was a roofing issue, allowing water to drain right into the wall and across the window to the points it could travel downward and they were able to correct the entry point of the water. . .They climbed into the attic and took pictures to show the leak, and the location. They exceeded by every expectation and I wish I could have given them an A++++++++++ rating on all counts.. My husband and I are FOREVER customers of JD and crew. . . They worked hard to fix it right!

My decision to go with Woodrot Solutions was based on the fact that they have total transparency on how they bill you.
JD showed me the factory invoice for the windows, informed me of his upcharge per window and the cost to install each window.
We scheduled a date many weeks out and they showed up right on time. The crew did an excellent job on the woodrot repair and the installation of new windows and a door. I would highly recommend them.

As I said above a great job...Clean and right on time...JD showed me some things that I could do to make the new windows more effective without me having to ask...Great crew, great team, I will use them again...
