"[Member Name Removed] called us out on 11-3-15 for a water leak under her trailer. We found a leak in black polybutylene pipe under her trailer and that the whole area had flooded. We charged $450.00 for that repair. After observing that obvious problem, we did a total leak down test and found there was still yet another leak. We then found in the guest bath an angle stop and supply line both leaking, which we repaired, but there was still a major leak somewhere. We charged $150.00 for that repair. After more investigation, we found the leak was caused by the main water supply to both trailers. It was a ¾" galvanized pipe that had rusted and rotted away. We determined it couldn’t be fixed and needed to be replaced. We prepared a proposal for $5,263.50 for a water line replacement and offered to do a temporary water line jumper. Running a jumper makes the situation less of an emergency as it allows more time for the water under the trailer to dry up, and for our company to call in a Blue Stake to mark utilities before we begin digging which takes 3 business days. We explained that the jumper would cost $450.00, but if the proposal for the main line replacement was accepted the cost would be used as a credit and would be deducted from the total cost of the line. The customer did not want the jumper, despite our attempts to explain that when all is said and done it would be at no cost, but she did give authorization to do the job at the proposed price of $5,263.50. Since the water line was leaking badly and a jumper was not run, we were able to obtain an emergency Blue Stake and began work on 11-6-15 using two crews and working a12 hour day. Once completed, we replaced the concrete pavers, but the customer complained that they were not placed properly so we went back and replaced them again. The customer then called asking for the $450.00 credit for the jumper, despite us never running one. We ultimately decided to credit her, taking the final price down to $4813.50. After the work was completed, Wood’s Plumbing believed that the home owner was very happy with the urgency to remedy her issues, the quality of workmanship, and attention to detail we provided."
"Dear Member, at Wood's Plumbing we do not charge by the hour. We bid the job, it's called up front pricing - you know the full cost before we start the work. Normally, we charge $62.50 for the Service Call, which is basically to show up at your house and assess the situation, then we give you a scope of work explanation and price to do the work. In your case, we waived the $62.50 and we accepted a $35.00 off coupon that you presented to our tech. After reviewing all the paperwork that was returned to our office by Donavan, we found that he presented you with the charges ahead of time with a signature to proceed. I hope this helps to clarify things. We appreciate you taking the time to comment on our plumbers and their professionalism! Sincerely, Bill Wood"

"Dear Member, you called us on 10-18-14 about a leaking water heater. Our plumber found that your water heater was a 2000 model which is 15 years old. He then told you that the average water heater lasts only 10-12 years and it would be better to replace it rather than try to fix it. (Especially since it had never been serviced) He then gave you a price of $1,183.76 to install a new one. You thought there was still life left in your old water heater and asked him to patch it up for the least amount of money. So against my better judgement we installed a full port drain valve so it could be flushed out properly, replaced leaking galvanized nipples with brass, new supply lines, temperature and relieve valve and an anode rod. Our plumber spent about 2 1/2 hours on site for the sum of $497.50, which included a Whole House Plumbing Inspection (a $150.00 value ) and the $62.50 Service Charge. He then gave you a proposal for suggested additional work. You were informed at that time that we can not warranty your old water heater. I am not sure why this warrants a poor review......Bill Wood, Owner"

"(member name removed), I am sorry that there has been a large misunderstanding or miscommunication with reference to the problems with your home’s sewer system. Our experience with plugged sewer lines, especially in older homes, is that the plug is a symptom of an existing problem; it is not the problem itself. On Thursday, January 22nd, Tony, one of our technicians, spent four (4) hours at your home in an effort to clear the stoppage. Tony used a snake through the main line clean outs, through the septic tank clean outs and through a roof vent but was not successful in clearing the drain line. He did find dirt and grass on our snake, which indicates a broken pipe somewhere in the line. . When Charles, my general manager, came to your home the next day, he saw the “black gunky stuff” that was in your showers. Typically, that type of residue and knowing the age of you home, 50 years, would indicate that your sewer piping is cast iron, which could be rotted or collapsed. Because the sewer was not drained, we could not use a camera to have clear access to the line; this makes it impossible to give you an accurate estimate on fixing an unknown problem. He used an educated guess as to what the problem was, and initially gave you a worst case scenario pricing, complete replacement of the sewer system to include inside and outside the home to the HCS. The lesser proposal that Charles provided to you was to continue the work started the night before. We needed to get the sewer line to drain by snake or jetting and then camera to find the current problem and give you an accurate bid to fix or replace the plumbing on one location or possibly the entire system. You spoke to Ruben, our dispatch manager, on the phone after Tony and Charles had been at your home to see if you could get a refund. The $593.65 that you were charged covered the initial service charge, $62.50 and the four (4) hours of labor that were provided, $531.15. Discounts cannot be given to work that has already been performed. We have been to your home a couple of times and have treated you more than fair. We charge the same price at all times, 24-7, including nights, weekends or holidays. I am surprised that you and your friend were able to open the line so that it drained. However, if you used a snake going down through a roof vent, it was a smaller diameter snake, and is only a temporary fix. As a reputable plumbing contractor, we do not like to use band aid fixes; we like return business, but we like it when return business is because of good service, not because the problem was not fixed properly to begin with. Temporary fixes are not a good business practice, and not the way we like to do business. We try to be fair to every one of our customers. The best way to help you fix to your current plumbing problems is with our service agreement that gives customers a minimum of 10% discount for an entire year, and we also offer financing to get the problem solved for the long term. Sincerely, Bill Wood Owner"

"Dear Member, thanks for taking the time to speak with me today about your concerns. I really appreciate your time in this matter. Thanks for confirming that our technician did have your approval for the charges to complete the work at hand. And he did give you a discount when the scope of work was less than he expected. I accept your reason for this review because you were confused. After our conversation, I am relieved that you will continue to call Wood's Plumbing for your future plumbing issues.
