Awful! Beware!!! This company was referred to us from Lumber Liquidators so this gave me a little comfort that a good job would be done. Boy was I mistaken. The owner, Michael, is a complete waste of space. The team of 2 that he sent out were completely unprofessional in the work product and their attitude. MANY errors were made, from using too much glue/not enouh glue, bad cuts (they never even used a tape measure once!), bad gapping, not to mention that they had a complete disregard for our home. So much dust and did not cover anything up. Equipment old and dull that it caused a smoke smell in the house. The guy had to ask me for a pencil??!??! And to top in off, when questioned about the mistakes the "foreman" got extremely pissy. Called Michael about this and he said that the foreman was responsible for quality control and he just worked in the office. Really???? Finallly got the waste of space to come out to view everything. We told him that we did not want them fixing anything, that we would handle. Also, overquoted the job. Had four full boxes left over... should not have that much even with waste!!!

The date of the service is an estimate. We signed a contract 1/2 up front and 1/2 upon completion. They did not show up when they said they would. Each time they came they seemed to be unprepared for the work to be completed. The flooring installation went well, but the installation of the transition pieces from carpet to flooring and tile to flooring were not to our satisfaction. When we complained they told us that "they never had a problem before." They had to re-do it, because they used the wrong glue. It took more than a month to have the job completed, when they told us up front that it would take a day. The caulking was done and does not match the flooring. The foreman, Michael did not once come out to view the work that was done, to try to resolve our issues. After the installation of the transition pieces, Michael wanted the complete second half of our payment. The quarter round installed around the flooring was not professionally installed with the cuts not being beveled to transition to the baseboards. When we complained, he said "it was a standard install." We were not satisfied and the job not yet complete, however he continued to ask for the full amount. We thought that since he was sitting in an office at Lumber Liquidators, that he would be a good choice for the installation. They did not communicate with each other to determine the correct transition pieces were ordered. It was very inadequate. I would never recommend his company to anyone.

Workmen arrived on time. Friendly and courtious. Not much talking just got after the job & got it done. Anxious to please.
Owner called after about an hour to see that all was going as scheduled.
Cleanup was satisfactory.
Here I am left with a beautiful floor.

Approximately cost above did not include $2500.00 in material which was purchased from Lumber Liquidators.

This was such a stressful situation. Michael's company goes by 2 names, Woodwalk and Boardwalk. He will not come out to look at work no matter how unhappy you are. You have to fight with them to correct any of the mistakes, then they may do them, or you just have to live with it. I finally told them to get out, and I would finish the work. They are rude, one of the workers scared me a bit when I asked him to put the trim on the other side of the the bottom wooden step I had them install since he had glued a piece of trim to the right side. He refused to do it. So I have one side of the step with trim, the other without. Any mistakes they make in cutting along the doors, or wall they fill with caulk and then rub a stain pen on it. At my back door I am going to have to put a piece of matching trim along the bottom because each cut piece matches up differently and there are 1/4 inch gaps in some spots. Michael had all kinds of hidden fees that you never get in writing. He purchased the wood for me at Lumber Liquidators and tried to charge me twice for the taxes a few times. Expect to have at least $1200 in expenses that you are not told about.

The most important thing to know about Boardwalk Flooring is to read and understand their contract very carefully. What I took as common disclaimers were actually foreshadows of unprofessional work: - The contract says that a separate cleanup is recommended after the install, which is an understatement. My house was left a mess. Globs of glue and leveler on walls, glue residue over all the installed flooring, dents in the drywall, a fog of sawdust left over my patio (where they were cutting the boards), etc. - The contract says they are not responsible for damage to my personal property, to which my shattered flat screen TV can attest. - The contract says that leveling compound (basically wet cement) might be required at additional cost, which will be shown as "? bags x $49" on the labor estimate. The installers used 31 bags for my house, which took an installer only three hours to spread (generously rounding up). Yes, that comes to _$500/hr_ labor (plus the materials) for that "?" item. After a long dispute, the owner eventually reduced this to about $400/hr. - The contract doesn't mention a timeframe for completion. Good thing, because the crew was consistently late, left early, and took over twice the original verbal estimate to complete the work. To their credit, after an extensive cleaning, repainting, and drywall repair effort on my part, the floors themselves look fine. But would I ever use Boardwalk again or recommend them to a friend: no way.
Response from Wood Walk Floors
"Wood Walk Flooring appreciates your business, and understands that contracts can be hard to understand. However, it is our goal to be as transparent as possible in an effort to make our clients feel comfortable. It is stated in all of our contracts that our crew is not responsible for moving any electronics, if the home owner choose to solicit help moving said items then the home owner has deviated from the contract and should assume all responsibility. The price of remodeling floors is expensive and its been our practice to be as up front on the price as possible. However, as a project progresses more work and consequently more money may be required. Aside from the unfortunate incident with your television, I am happy to hear that you are satisfied with your floors. M. Mason (CEO Wood Walk Flooring)"

In all, the crew was very courteous and fast. They cleaned up very well. We would have appreciated a supervisor appearing at some point during the installation process to see how the job was going. Overall, we are happy with the new floor.
Response from Wood Walk Floors
"All interior caulking is latex white. If customers would like materials or styles of installation that is not standard practices, feel free to let me know prior to installation and we can include it in the contract. We encourage homeowners to be present during the installation as every person has different opinions on what they are used to seeing and find aesthetically appealing. As the business owner I am only a phone call away and can be on site if a question should come up that the crew can not remedy."

The floor looks great, but it took a LOT of diligence on my part to insure that a good job was done. The owner of the company was not able to come out to my house and had to have his father come out to do the estimate later that day. The father appeared to know what he was doing, but the materials list proved to be the primary problem with this order as they had me order an extra bucket of adhesive ($170) and did not order the proper reducers for my house. When my wife attempted to return the adhesive, Lumber Liquidators would not take the bucket as they claimed it had been opened. I could not tell that it had been opened, but if it had it was opened by the installers. Boardwalk floors bought it back for a reduced cost ($50-100) and They neglected to inform me that I would need to stay out of the majority of my house for 24 hours while the glue dried. In retrospect, we should probably have gone to a hotel but with three dogs that is nearly impossible. We could have arranged for a dog sitter with advanced notice but instead crawled in and out of our bedroom window. The installers English was very rudimentary and I had to stay on-site to make sure they did not make silly mistakes. Once they were nearly finished, my wife and I went out to eat and came back to find that they had installed white trim between a dark wood panelling wall and dark wood flooring. When the floor was nearly done is when we realized that we did not have the proper reducers to handle the transition between wood floor and vinyl. While the owner ordered replacement pieces, he ordered the wrong one and I gave up and handled both the ordering and installation of these final pieces a few months afterwards. Full disclosure, I was out of the country for two months after the installation and did not want to coordinate this installation while over seas. Some of the glue pushed up between the floor boards and I had to clean that up with a razor blade.

I am so angry about it. I was lied to about what was needed and what wasn't. I willing to pay for the float material but since they put it down the wood has been a problem. They told me that I owed them more money. There was no resolution to the problem. I paid them in full but I should have taken them to court.

I ordered the floors myself. I spoke to Michael, he was very courteous and always on time. He was always available. His crews were on time as well. The measurements were a little off for the estimate so we had to order extra flooring but there were no surprises with the estimate. I would recommend them.

Michael was very easy to work with and flexible to set up the appointments, etc. I got a good value for the money. His guys were not the most experienced installers and in the end some of the details could have been finished better but all in all the floor looks great. They picked up all the trash. The team was late both days arriving 2 hours later than they had announced but other than that they were very hard workers. They broke a tile in one of the bathrooms but fixed to our satisfaction. They had very little wastage. They were able to install 50 square feet more than initially planned because they did not waste any wood.
