Very well. They are craftsmen. Put up plastic barriers to keep down the dust in the rest of the house. They did a wonderful job. Our new bath looks beautiful. His designer helped me turn my ideas into real world structures. The materials they used and the workmanship of their installation is first class. They are a little more expensive than some but they can do all the things you want them to and do them correctly. We are very pleased with their work.
This review is a long time coming, but it does give me perspective since we have been living with these changes for a while now.The first project was started in late 2013 and finished in January 2014. It consisted of moving the laundry room to the second floor of our home. The master bedroom is adjoined to the fourth bedroom where we decided to enlarge that room's closet for our washer and dryer, closer to all our bedrooms. The original laundry room was converted to a pantry. The other part of this project was enlarging our master bedroom walk-in closet. It was very narrow and divided into two areas by a wall and door. Young Remodeling managed the project well and had excellent contractors. They provided excellent quality workmanship in all aspects of the project including extending hardwood flooring into the pantry, tiling the new laundry room floor, installing bi-fold doors, refinishing the ceilings and painting the walls and trim, building the pantry shelves, rerouting electrical and water services to the new laundry location and more. Total cost was about $25,000.
The second project was the kitchen remodel. This project was suppose to start in August 2014, the cabinetry had been received and they were ready to start demolition when a medical issue arose that meant we had to postpone the project. Young was very gracious to hold our new cabinetry in storage until we could restart the project in April, 2015. We had a new kitchen by the end of May. The project consisted of a radically different layout. We worked with Young's designer to come up with a great plan. They provided lots of drawings and paid attention to details to optimize our new kitchen. All of the cabinets were replaced and Young installed all of our new appliances. They re-stained the hardwood floor that extends into our family room. They rewired the kitchen and moved the canned light fixtures to better meet the needs of the new layout and installed our new pendant light fixtures over our new island. They refinished our ceiling, painted and the trim and walls. They figured out the best way to vent the new cook top from it's new location. They installed the new granite counter tops, the new exterior door and a large window. In the family room, in addition to re-staining the hardwood floor, they painted the walls and trim, refinished the ceiling and replace our original wood mantle with a stone mantle. The quality of their work was again outstanding. Both Jenny in the office and Rex in the field were very easy to work with. Rex came back recently(September) and fixed a cabinet problem and converted our pantry shelves from adjustable to fixed, for heavier loading at no charge! Total cost was about $60,000. This did not include the new appliances, window, sink and faucet or pendant light fixtures.
So, now over a 1 1/2 years from the first project and 4 months since the kitchen remodel... we love it all and wouldn't change a thing! We are now working on a list of changes we want to make in other parts of or house and Young Remodeling will be our first choice.

It is with absolute pleasure that my wife and I have the opportunity to write this review on behalf of Young Remodeling. As business owners in the service industry (medical), we understand the importance of providing quality service, communicating effectively all while completing an endeavor in the most cost effective, time conserving manner. On all accounts, every member of the team at Young Remodeling succeeded with a resounding A+++++ rating.
As with most home owners going through the process of a renovation, we performed our due diligence and met with five different companies/contractors over a period of two months. We entertained and enjoyed hearing the varying sales concepts and design ideas all while trying to adhere to a budget with which we were comfortable. Paul Young, owner of Young Remodeling, was our fourth contact and, in all reality, was our last. His approach to the job at hand was both methodical and efficient, yet hands on and personal. After all, it is his name on the business cards and it clearly showed in the pride he takes in his work....THANK YOU PAUL!!!!
After making our decision, we were assigned a designer (chosen by Paul based on our needs) to begin the process of fabricating the kitchen of our dreams. Jenny was an absolute delight to work with and simply understood my wife and I from the very first meeting. We met with her many times over the course of 4-6 weeks as we reviewed the various designs, narrowed down choices, and then finally came up with the final rendition. She not only created the designs but also helped us choose from the myriad of material available (granite, back splash, tile, color schemes, etc). I would feel remiss if we did not mention that her computer renditions (numerous and accurate) were enjoyable to view and likely a great deal of work....THANK YOU JENNY!!!!
Once the design was complete, the structural engineer approved, and the city gave blessing on the design, we were assigned to Rex, who was the next important stage of the project. Rex was our project manager who became the "go to" contact throughout the remainder of the renovation journey but was in no way isolated from Paul or Jenny. Rex, in short, was simply amazing. He kept everyone (from permits, demolition, plumbing, electrical, drywall, ceiling repair, flooring, painting, cabinet install, granite install, appliance install) on a schedule and over the course of our 10-12 week renovation, we never varied from the "master schedule" but by a day or so. We cannot say anything regarding Rex and his work ethic except for "Stellar Job"....THANK YOU REX!!!!
Behind the scenes of all the work done were the hardworking crews of the individual disciplines. Each and every one of the crews involved in our renovation not only acted and performed in the most professional manner but are deserving of the same THANKS as the rest. We would like to acknowledge the Demolition crew, the Framing /Building crew (Jamie, Jeff and Cody), the Drywall/Ceiling crew (Matt and his father), the Plumbing Crew, the Flooring crew (Carlos and his team), the Cabinet Install crew (Charlie and his team), the Granite install team (Evolve), and the Painting crew (Brent and his team)....THANK YOU ALL!!!!
As we have decided to stay in this home for the long term, we look very forward to our next projects in the years to come...basement remodel, master bathroom remodel and outdoor stone patio/sun room addition. It goes without saying that we look forward to using Young Remodeling for all our future remodeling needs.

When my wife and I found out we were pregnant we knew our far off plans for our home addition was rapidly moving up in our planned time frame. We have a quasi 3 br/ 2 bath house and with both of us working from home we knew we needed more space with a baby. We started with another builder but due to bad luck of a deer crossing the path of his motorcycle on the highway, we were forced to start from scratch over 4 months into the pregnancy. We contacted a few different people we found on Angies list to come out and bid on the job. Each builder told us our project would be a minimum of 6 months (including one for 4 months of framing alone), none could guarantee a completion day and pricing was higher then originally planned. When we met with Paul of Young Remodeling, he looked at the plans and said "I promise I can, and will have this done in 4 months before your child is born." Paul had his crew out some days 14 hours a day and most weeks 6 days a week and even a few 7 days a week. Paul's crew was top notch from his office staff (Hey Jenny), to his personal work crews, to sub-contractors. We were in near daily contact with them and made clear choices with their help along the way and when there were miss-communications Paul did his best to make everything Fair and Right. We ran into delays as any project will and some unforeseen additional work but we were in the house 2 weeks before our baby was born and had the final inspection the day she came home from the hospital.
The best compliment I can give actually came from our neighbor that we met for the first time when we moved back in to the house. "We assumed one of your families had a construction company, because from the number of workers you had at your house and the number of hours they worked in all kind of bad weather, we figured no way that is just a regular contractor." In fact she kind of is correct because Young Remodeling became a part of our newly extended family through the whole process and even had a few surprise gifts for our newly born daughter along the way.
We were on a tight deadline and they were able to meet our timeline. Worked primarily with Randy and Elizabeth pre-construction, then Rex, Jamie and Jen during construction. All interactions were pleasant and professional, and all inquiries were responded to promptly. There were a couple minor issues with our bathroom faucets a few months after completion and they were able to fix these issues promptly and at no additional cost.
Everyone involved in my Mom and Dad's bathroom remodeling project was top notch. From Paul the owner to Jen the creative force to the various laborers who came and went, they were extremely pleased. The workers were reliable and dependable and thorough. They would definitely recommend Young Remodeling to anyone who wants a great experience from start to finish!
The project went very well. Any problems, there were very few, were handled promptly and professionally. There were different crews that came in and out daily but they were always on time, did what they had to go, cleaned up, and were on their way. We have no complaints and definitely would use them again.
We were very pleased with the day-to-day progress especially seeing how the contractors cleaned up at the end of each day! We were always told who to expect the next morning and we really appreciated being kept in the loop. All trades were efficient and respectful and always willing to answer our questions. Our project manager was especially knowledgeable and attentive!
Our kitchen remodel involved installing new cabinets, granite countertops, tile backsplash, under the cabinet lighting, refinishing wood floors, performing some relatively minor plumbing and electrical work, installing a new gas range, new microwave, and two new wall ovens, and re-installing our existing dishwasher and fridge. Overall we are very pleased with our experience with this company. We primarily worked with Randy, who is in change of sales, Elizabeth, who was the designer, and Rex, who coordinated the renovation. We had very little contact with Paul, the owner. Everyone we worked with was extremely professional. We were especially impressed with Elizabeth, who did a great job listening to what we wanted and designed a kitchen that is both beautiful and functional and fit exactly with the style of our home and our tastes. She made the process of picking out cabinets, granite, and tile so easy, and her attention to detail made a big difference. The venders that this company uses are all excellent. All of the workers that came to our home were respectful, professional, clean, punctual, and talented at their craft.
The remodel itself took about 5 weeks to complete. We liked how the company uses a detailed online calendar to communicate what will be worked on each day. We also liked how this company has a cleaning lady come and dust out the cabinets and clean up the kitchen at the completion of the project. Any large home remodeling project will have its' problems, we only had a few bumps along the way. There were some spots in the wood floor that needed to be refinished, and a couple cabinets that needed adjustments, and our kitchen faucet needed to be fixed - these were all taken care of in a timely manner and to our satisfaction. We also experienced a discrepancy in the final invoice (just like a previous reviewer experienced), but this was corrected after we pointed it out.
Overall, we are very happy with the results and we would definitely recommend this company for any remodeling project.
I wasn't as pleased. I guess I got what I paid for but after we had them come out, we had a lot of remodelers come out and give us the same service for free when they were bidding on the remodeling. They were polite and courteous. I guess if I would have done my homework before and maybe called them and said we're thinking about having a remodel, could you come out and give us a written bid, they might have come out for free too.

We hired Young Remodeling to install a complex and custom pantry near the back door alcove of our kitchen. We own an old home, so our kitchen is small. The new pantry was/is designed to help add counter space to the main kitchen area by providing cabinet storage for a microwave oven, as well our toaster oven and coffee maker via a quartz counter top. We also wanted to add additional storage via 4 custom cabinets. Special pullouts were designed for storage containers in a lower cabinet, as well as a pullout bar beneath the microwave. Young Remodeling did fantastic work on all facets of the job. From recommending vendors, to providing design options, to ensuring quality in the cabinets, counter top, and tile, and of course the install - it was all top notch. The end result is absolutely stunning. Of note, we would have given Young Remodeling high marks for the work in general, but they get exceptional points for problem solving. We had a severe challenge with one of our door options. Working with my wife and I they were able to create a unique sliding door solution that actually performed better than the original design. It looked amazing and didn't add any costs. All in all, they are just fabulous to work with and their work product is of the highest standards. We plan to continue to work with Young as we continue to remodel our plaza area home.
There were some challenges along the way,so we'll start with the overall experience:
Youngs completely gutted the kitchen and hall bath in our house. The original scheduled time for the project was 6 weeks from the beginning of demolition to the end of construction, final touch up stretched a bit after the 6 week
time. At the end of the project the kitchen and bath were beautiful and we felt like we ended up with what we were hoping for. The final quality of the kitchen and bathroom were top notch. The kitchen cabinets were very good quality for full wood semi-customized cabinets and the team at Youngs was willing to make minor adjustments to them to give them additional functionality. Their designer took the time prior to starting the project to make sure the details were organized. She made suggestions and always kept our personal style in consideration. We really enjoyed the design process with Elizabeth.
Youngs remodeling was always considerate of our time. They were willing to work with our time schedule and continued to be flexible in scheduling depending on our needs.
Security was never a concern and we felt 100% safe in our house during the entire process. We felt very comfortable with all the sub-contractors utilized.
Now for some of the frustrations:
We repeatedly asked for Youngs to provide a detailed scope of work that matched or referenced the design drawings. The ?contract? provided to us prior to starting the work was lacking in detail and didn?t even have a signature line. This caused us quite a bit of hesitation and we think Youngs really needs to address this concern. However, due to generally positive reviews, we decided to proceed with work with them and at the end of the process are satisfied with the final product.
Communication was lacking a little during the project to us. There was an online schedule set up for our project and would have worked well, until changes happened. Once the schedule needed to change, the online calendar was not always kept up to date so we did not know if there would be work happening at the house on that particular day or not. We often had to initiate the communication rather than being kept up to date. When we initiated the communication, we were always able to reach Youngs.
Additional challenges included a couple kitchen cabinets and accessories that did not arrive with the original shipment. Unfortunately, it took two additional shipments to get the full order which really impacted our schedule. Youngs did try to make up this lost time and almost finished by the deadline of Thanksgiving. Although the kitchen was generally usable by that date, they had to return several times after Thanksgiving to correct some wall finishes and other touch up. We were required to point out several defects in the construction (pitted drywall, pull outs not closing correctly, hidden junction box, paint touch up) in order to have the issues resolved. While we realize that Youngs may not be able to catch all the items, there seemed to be too many that we the homeowners had to be responsible for in order to have any resolution.
The last frustration stemmed from the invoicing process. We had some total costs higher than originally agreed upon and we had to go through several iterations to get the correct final due amount. It did finally get resolved, however it took several weeks to do so.
I could not be happier with the results. I have a very old house built in 1920 with all the quirks and pitfalls that one encounters in an old house. Paul, Rex and all the subcontractors were responsive and professional throughout the entire process. They were respectful of my home and my schedule. The work has been excellent. I'm so pleased that I'm beginning to plan my next project which is the kitchen and dining room. I will hire Paul Young Remodeling for that project as well.

Overall, the basement finishing went very well. We enjoyed working with Paul, Rex and Linda. From the beginning they gave us some really good suggestions on maximizing the finished space in the basement. We also put in a workshop area and they were very good at finishing everything down to the last detail. The bathroom and Rec room are now our 2 favorite rooms in the house. Even though we had a couple of glitches with the tile selections, they worked it out so that we still got the finished look that we wanted.
There is not a single thing we would change, we are very happy with the end results. Although the price was higher than some other bids we got, we do feel that we got what we paid for and look forward to spending many hours in our new basement.
The floor was changed from wooden slats to a ceramic tile that the contractor recommended. The screen windows were changed out to full view custom casement windows and two new full-view doors. A room-specific heating and air conditioning unit was also added. The whole room was painted inside and out.
The people working on this job were fantastic--friendly, conscientious, and truly professional at their craft. We do not hesitate to recommend this company for any remodel job. In fact they are just starting work on the basement.

I started looking for remodeling companies at the remodeling show several months before I met with companies to discuss price, etc. Frankly, I walked past the Young Remodeling booth because it was so beautiful that I assumed it would be too expensive. However, after checking the ratings on Angie's List, I decided to get a bid from Young. They were the fourth of four contractors I to bid on the job. When I got their bid, I told Randy that they came in 2-3 thousand higher than anyone else. The net day, he called me back and said that the owner, Paul Young would like to meet with me. Paul and Randy came out and looked at the bathroom. Then Paul and I discussed what I envisioned for the bathroom. He said that they could come very close to what the others had bid. Later, when I was discussing the options with my husband, I realized that Young was the only company that was going to take out all of the walls, floor, and ceiling, not just those in the tub/shower area. With the other contractors, I was going to have to remove the wallpaper myself. The folks at Young told me not to bother removing the wallpaper since they would be tearing out the walls and using waterproof backer board throughout the entire bathroom. They also were the only ones to bid a new window rather than re-use the old one. In addition, the other contractors said it would be a problem to move the toilet, but Young suggested we move it in order to increase the size of the shower. They told me that moving the stool was no problem at all. In addition to all of the above, Paul Young held my hand through the entire process. He gave me sound design advice, then went with me to pick out everything. He even told me when items I chose would exceed my budget. When I chose a counter top and shower door that would increase the cost, he asked me several times if I was sure I wanted to incur the increased cost. He held my deposit check until he felt certain that I was certain about the increase. I appreciated his concern and patience. The project took a little longer than anticipated, but that was because I pushed them to start sooner than planned and therefore, the custom items weren't quite ready. It was well worth the wait. The quality of the work done in the bathroom is phenomenal. The tile work is gorgeous, and the custom vanity exceeded expectations. When I changed my mind in mid project about the placement of the grab bars which had already been installed, it was no big deal to them even though the change required extra sheet rock work. I added a minor change to the project which also increased the total cost. The addition was to install a comfort height toilet and grab bars in my 1/2 bath on the main level of the house. Now both of the bathrooms my mother uses are safe as well as beautiful.
Just beautiful work. I would never have imagined the project as it turned out. We really love our porch and spend every moment we can on it. I would highly recommend Young Remodeling, even after our frustrations in the beginning. I'm going to try to add photos to this post.

..............................

Since Young Remodeling has gotten his own crew on the job, they have been there daily (except for rain days) and are doing outstanding work. His carpenters are very skilled and very friendly. They have worked long days and weekends to get our project completed. His crew had the structure ready for a roof when it needed to be; the roofer they recommended was there when he said he'd be and had the job done sooner than expected. The craftmanship is very nice and the attention to detail has been very refreshing. Out project is not complete yet, but it is definately getting closer each day. I'll update as soon as it is done! I have changed the rating I gave Young Remodeling to reflect the job being done now.

..............................................................

I chose Young Remodeling because of the reviews on Angies list and have been nothting but frustrated since.

When we finally agreed to a plan, Paul Young told me once we signed the contract and put down a deposit the job would start the following Monday and would be done in 7-10 days. We signed the contract on May 26th. Today is July 12th and we barely have anything done.

I've had mutliple promises and just as many broken promises as well as many, many excuses.. I understand the construction trade and understand not everything goes as planned. The crew started demo on May 28th, came three days and we haven't seen them again until July 8th; this included many promises and dates and lots of no call, no shows. They've now been there four days and have barely scratched the surface. We again called Paul Young who continues to give us excuses and is giving us a date at the end of July for completion. What happened to 7-10 days. My frustration is the lack of communication, the apparently lack of concern for what was promised, and what appears to be whoever the other clients are they need to be attending are more important than our job that has been delayed for two months now. What happened to integrity?

I have kept detailed notes as we've gone along and I'm sure anyone who read them would agree we have a right to be frustrated and angry. If Paul Young can complete our job within the next two weeks and if the quality is excellent I will definately sharte that information here. I would hesitate to recommend them at this time.

"I share your frustration with this project. The architect we recommend took way too long, the city has taken 3 weeks when it normally takes 2 days to approve, and we told you we would be there quickly and had july 4th holiday right there. We are trying to finish the job for you as quickly as possible to help. This is not normal to us, but we are working through it."

That was explained in my review. Total gutting and remodeling of kitchen and dining room. Replace rail and spindles on stairs in entryway. Paint whole house including trim and ceilings. New wood floors in kitchen, entry, and dining room. New carpet throughout rest of house. Remodel guest bathroom. We were given wonderful advice and guidance throughout the whole process. Everyone we worked with was not only expert at what they do individually buy all worked together for a common goal--they made sure everything was done to perfection. Rex even made a custom cat door for me! I could not be happier with the way everything turned out--it is beautiful. I have never had such a positive experience with a remodel, or any kind of work of this kind. Paul was not only great to work with, but very talented and has a great design eye for what is needed.
