Terrible! The floors looked nice initially, but soon after, big patches on the floor started peeling up. Al sent one of his employees to patch several of the spots, but new areas pealed off. Al came to our home, looked at the floor and said that it was his application of the concrete substance that had caused the peeling. He promised to patch the peeling areas. His employee, Zack, called to to schedule, but did not show up to do the work. This happened several times. at present we can't get a response from Al or Zack. Do Not let these people work on your home. We paid him over $10,000 to put concrete flooring in our house and now they are in ruins and we are looking at another $15-20,000 to remediate the damage if we can get someone to do the project.

The demo of the carpet went okay, however they were not prepared for the tile demo in the laundry room. Fortunately it was linoleum that looked like tile so their job was even easier. There was no communication as they progressed in the job and critical steps were missed resulting in an inferior finished product. For example, not all of the nail holes where the carpet tack strips were installed were filled. (See attached images) Also our concrete floor was light. It seems logical to me that they would have used a lighter shaded grout, instead of a dark gray that would show through the color and seal. (See images) We waited for at least three days before laying down cardboard and plastic to paint the walls and ceilings. We used PAINTERS TAPE, the tape to can put on basically any surface. When we pulled the tape up, literally the supposed sealant and even the color came up! All that was left was the original floor. When my wife called to ask about this the manager went into a big spiel about how you can't use painters tape. It's in the care documents they left. My wife was reading it back to him and there was NO mention if not being able to use painters tape on a supposed strong, finished floor. Nothing was ever even communicated orally to us in this regard. (See attached images) I had a friend who used to be in the concrete floor staining business come by and look at it and he couldn't figure out what they did. He took photos and showed them to his old company and they said the install was completely wrong and unprofessional. I think they tried to rush and get stain on and then say it was too late to change the grout or fill holes because they already put color down. I guess we should have been watching them like a road crew boss. They refuse to stand behind their work, want 75 dollars an hour To fix THEIR SHODDY WORK, and the owners refuse to even come out and see what happened. I would NEVER recommend this company to do a project.

"[Member Name Removed] and [Member Name Removed], It saddens me to see this review as we take extreme pride in what we do and always aim to produce the best possible outcome in each and every floor we tackle. All floors are different. I understand that sometimes expectations can be higher than what is possible. This is even more the case when we encounter floors that are covered in carpet, tile, linoleum, etc. and are not able to initially see what lays beneith. Such was the case in your basement. This is why we always make sure we communicate every detail that could be anticipated from the very beginning and continue to involve the homeowner(s) as much as possible throughout the process. I was the lead on your project and clearly recall meeting and speaking with you, [Member Name Removed], as we began work. Everything from tack strip holes, possible tile shadows, baseboards, to tape on the floor was covered and we were kindly told told to get going! As the days proceeded, I was in communication with [Member Name Removed] both in person as she visually inspected the floor, as well as via text and phone. [Member Name Removed] chose the stain color and sealer of her choice and even signed a permission to seal form after visually seeing her decision and prior to finalizing the project. It is unfortunate that you both are unhappy with the decisions made, even though you were aware of all options (we even offered to come and seal with with a solid color of your choice after you regretted the stain you picked out). I do feel your review is highly unfair as you were both part of the entire process. I hope you were able to get the look you were desiring and wish you both the best. Alan and his team are very hard workers and aim to please. They were friendly, arrived on time, did a good clean up and explained very well what to expect. What I have learned in concrete staining, especially concrete that had been covered in tile for 50+ yrs, is you can not predict what the concrete color will be, it is not like paint. I am very glad I choose a light color to stain with, as my floors then darkened up to a deep brown/grey/green/tan. I used the water based sealant and it gave more of a Matte finish even though the test sample was more shiny. So if you want a shiny finish go with the industrial sealer. We wanted just a bit more shine so Alan came back and fixed it with a product called Zep. It is perfect! Finishing the floors was not as toxic smelling as I thought it would be. ( My hard wood floor refinishing we had to leave the house for a few days.) Windows were left open for part of the day but closed at night and it was cold as we had freezing rain. The floors dried fast and we were able to walk on them in 24 hours or less. I would highly recommend Your Concrete Guy. He was the most reasonable offer we had and was flexible with my requests for additional work and sealant.
Both patios were in extremely poor condition. They hadn't been resealed since being put in more than a decade ago. The cream had worn off of much of the concrete and the finish was gone...except in the areas that were under cover.
Because of the condition of the concrete, it was very difficult for Alan to achieve any level of consistency in the polyurethane sealer. At first, we were a little irked that it didn't look more like new, but I've rarely experienced the level of commitment that Alan showed throughout the process. He came back several times, ran experiments with different types of sealers and even had offered to try an entirely different type of sealer at HIS cost. He was committed to providing us with great results...even in a situation where it was nearly impossible.
Bottom line: I can recommend Alan with complete confidence...and we will be using him again to maintain our patios.
Solid responsiveness with a friendly crew. Alan was also good in helping us see our options and best prepare for what the outcome might be. The final commercial finish required some touch-up after it set, which was well accommodated by Alan.
Owner Alan Smith and his crew were outstanding. Alan took time to explain the process, give us color choices, and then his crew prepped the floor, mixed two colors for us, applied the stain, and sealed it. It is beautiful, and they did an excellent job. They were all professional, friendly and easy to work with.
Alan was quickly responsive to my initial contact, and came out to assess and bid the job. Since we were under time constraints, and Alan could do the work we did not look for other bids. Alan’s crew came in and removed/disposed of the carpets in our large basement area, scraped off existing linoleum in another room, and scraped off wood floor glue on another area. They then did a grind on the concrete floor to expose the clean surface, stained it and applied 2 coats of poly sealer. All work was professional, Alan was great to work with (even allowed us to add an additional area to the job at the last minute), and the floor looks fabulous.
Highly recommended.

Working with Your Concrete Guy was genuinely the best experience I have ever had with a contractor. The owner Alan (super nice and trustworthy guy) provided a quote, talked through our options clearly and delivered on time. When my husband and I were having trouble deciding on a final color he came back for an extra day and provided several more sample colors to choose from. The final floor looks amazing!!
Friends and neighbors who know what our basement looked like before are stunned by the gleaming concrete floor. Its warm brown stain and unusual character make you forget you're in a basement at all, thanks to the great job done by Alan and his crew at Your Concrete Guy.
The floor was in terrible shape: parts of it had been tiled, parts painted, parts dug up and badly patched, and all incredibly uneven. After consultation and helpful advice from Alan, we opted to have the floor grinded and skim-coated before staining. We learned that staining a concrete floor takes faith: It's not an exact science because every floor responds a little differently to the stains—even after skim-coating. From a color and design standpoint, we didn't know exactly how our floor would look when it was finished. But Alan had prepared us well and together we adjusted here and there along the way to achieve a great final result.
Alan's crew was punctual and courteous and the job stayed on budget and on schedule. After they finished, we covered the floor and proceeded with the final renovation. Now the floor is uncovered and Alan is completing some after-construction touch-ups. I would recommend his company to anyone who is planning a concrete make-over.

Overall these guys were very nice. I met with Alan initially, and showed him many photos of the concrete look that I wanted for my finished basement. He said that he knew exactly what finish it was "diluted black acid stain". He also said that he should have brought his glasses with him. Yes he should have, because it looked nothing like the many swatches his very accomodating contractor Paul put on the floor. When Paul and I revisited the photos, it was determined that all of the photos were of sealed or polished concrete floors with no stain. Paul, ground the swatches out and sealed the floor. They look great! Overall we probably spent more than we would have had Alan had his glasses on during the consultation, and it cost us more time without a basement. It also made more work for Paul.... but we are very happy with our floors and would recommend them, just make sure Alan has his glasses on!

"We enjoyed working with the member. Her comments verify the importance of sampling on your floor prior to staining. As many customers will confer, it is very difficult, when working with concrete stain, to transfer pictures or color charts to your individual floor with total accuracy. EVERY slab is different. We pride ourselves on working closely with our clients and taking the time necessary to assure your satisfaction. We hope that you, like the member, will work closely with us to find the look you desire within the realm of what is possible. And..... I just bought new glasses."

Contractor was on time for initial appointment, and got our bid back to us in a timely manner. He did not try to oversell, just provided what we really wanted. He came back twice to advise and confirm the job before starting. He was very through with the details. Started the job when he said and finished on time. Worked around our "open" hours so as to disrupt our customers as little as possible. At times worked till 1-2am! By nature the grinding, and floor work is messy. The crew was as neat and clean as could be expected. Much better than some other floor contractors we have had in our building. Whole job was completed in 5 days, which I thought was pretty good. The fist floor came out with a terrific shine, and should hold up very well. There were a couple of spots that had to be re-done, but these were done within a day and almost immediately after we called in the problem. The upper floors are not as dramatic a change as the 1st floor, however that is partially due to the existing floor not being in very good shape and not the contractors fault. Overall we were very happy with the result. We will be calling them again for periodic maintenance as they are a full service flooring company.

LEVEL OF SATISFACTION: This was a wonderfully easy project. Owner Alan Smith and his two assistants, Paul and Jessica, were professional, knowledgeable, on time and pleasant to have around. They were responsive to our "in process" requests and wanted to make sure we were satisfied with the job. We are VERY satisfied.

From start to finish, this company did a great job. There were unexpected problems with the old concrete along the way, and Alan was there all the way with advice, support, and excellent work. He was always available to answer questions and discuss progress. When new problems arose, he was calm, knowledgeable, and worked hard to solve them. The crew was polite, professional, and prompt. I am amazed that anyone could make our old basement floor look so good! Concrete staining seems to have been an excellent solution for our basement floor, and we certainly think we selected the right company to do the job. "Your Concrete Guy" is an especially friendly company with great customer service.

This is the second time I've used Your Concrete Guy. What I like about the company is that they are very approachable, dependable, and stick within the estimate provided. On this job, some of the concrete dust from the initial sanding came up through the hardwood floorboards into the house. They not only cleaned the interior floors for me, but also gave me a new "Swiffer" in case any more dust popped up after they left. They were respectful of my neighbors, too, which is a big consideration.

I spent $2500 on them. They did a really awesome job. They explained all the different steps to me. They set the right expectations for me in every step. It is a difficult job, where it is difficult to keep the customer happy. However, they did a beautiful job. I will definitely use this company in the future.

Alan and his crew had to grind out old carpet glue and do extensive prep work on the concrete floor and stub walls of our 1950s daylight basement. He applied multiple coats of stain and worked with us on ensuring the color was what we wanted. He even came back on a Sunday after the electricians and walls were completed to touch up the flooring so we could move our son back into the basement before school started. He did a great job and took a lot of care in his work. I would hire again and would have no problem recommending him to others. Our floor surpassed our expectations.
