Kitchen - Remodel
$25,000
Hired to remodel parts of the kitchen. Install prefinished hickory hardwood floors, the ceiling can lights, under cabinet lighting, prep and paint walls in kitchen and laundry room. Replace back door and rotted room/floor joist. Did pretty well on general construction, i.e: beams in the ceiling, can lights. Good job on under cabinet lighting. Did a mostly good job on the rear door, but air leaks under the foundation. Did not install hickory floors properly. Gouged floors in several spots. There are gaps between boards and end-to-end where you can put 1-3 business cards in the gap. Left in Mid Jan. and promised to be back the next day. Never showed, never returns calls. 10/2021 follow-up. Tiles in the laundry room cracked several years ago. grout deteriorated after a couple of years an entire floor needed to be replaced. Builder sent two of the workers to my house after he failed to complete the job telling them I had not paid him. I made copies of the checks with blanked-out account numbers and gave them to workers showing I had paid 90%. Told them if they wanted any other money they would have to remove and replace the wood flooring in the kitchen they incorrectly installed.
