We hired CWD to remodel a 1890's Victorian home in Millersville, MD in July 03 with a five month timeframe. CWD was the high bidder by a factor of two, but had the most professional presentation and the highest rating, so I hired them. Everything was fine for three months, until the project manager for our home resigned. We then entered a period where CWD was having Cash Flow problems but not telling us about it. When threatened with a complaint to MHIC and a lawsuit, they finally came clean and we worked out an alternate payment arrangement to allow them to proceed with the project. We are now five months past the Nov 15, 2003 date, and much of the delay was due to their lack of funds and not telling us about it. We hopefully will be done in May of 2004. I would recommend them because their craftsmanship is excellent and their price is good for the level of quality. Their attention to detail is good. Their ability to schedule and communicate among themselves and with customers is, however, very poor.

I didn't have a problem with the workers, my issue was with my POC. At the estimate stage I was told the project would take a couple of weeks but turned out to be 1 1/2 months. There was a week and a half period where no one showed up to work and when I called the POC he didn't call me back so I called the office and someone was there the next day. Also, the POC never called me during the project and only called when the project was done asking for the final payment. However, the workers did excellent work and were very courteous.

Craftworks Design performed an extensive water damage repair and renovation job at my home, working with a very antagonistic and uncooperative insurance claims rep. But I didn't have any problems with this contractor with regard to the work done, and I am generally pleased. The GM bent over backwards to be helpful, straightforward, and responsive; and the site supervisor was outstanding. I was very grateful that, in this case, the contractor came through even if the insurance company didn't. My one complaint is that some small items were taken from the home (stolen) and others damaged by contracted workers (we suspect) during the course of the work, but CWD did the right thing in those cases and settled up.

They were extremely responsive and accomodating. They worked well with my architect. I would definitely use them again.
