First impressions are important, in terms of establishing credibility for a contractor. The first impressions were very favorable, due to a prompt response to my initial inquiry about contractors in my area, due also to a very impressive website. Additionally, the contractor was able to provide a computer schematic of what the project would look like when finished, taking into consideration the options available for the project. In this instance, a new and larger rear deck was built, to replace the original deck that was approximately 22 years old and in bad condition. Another positive impression was obtained when discussing the project in person with this contractor. Although there was a minor problem with sourcing one component for the project, the contractor made it known to me what the problem was and the manner in which the problem would be resolved. This made the issue a minor one, and the result was quality materials were guaranteed to be used in the construction of the rear deck. Recommendations for the proper staining materials were most helpful and resulted in the appearance I desired for the deck framing construction, in addition to the selection of the actual deck floor materials. In addition to replacing an unsightly rear deck, the purpose of the project was to enhance the appearance and value of the house and property. I feel this goal was achieved in the construction of the new deck and staircase assemblies. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the speed at which the new deck was built and the quality of the construction.
