Comment: We have a chimney chase that extends from the first floor up above the second floor and roof. This chimney chase is located on the outside of the house. It is stick built/framed and matches the exterior of the house. We are installing a woodstove flue pipe out the wall of the first floor and into the chimney chase up and out the top. Roughly at the location of the roof line and up to the top of the chimney chase, there was found to be mold growing on the inside of the chase. The wood is wet and black. Stove pipe installers said the framing might be ok but the siding (pressboard) that was use is black/moldy and needs to be replaced before they can continue installing the rest of the pipe. The top of the chimney, the previous owners installed a pressboard over the top with 2 drilled holes. The rain has entered the top and dripped down the chase. Not sure how long but at least 2 winters if not more. Looking to have the upper portion of the chimney chase re-built/replaced from the
