DISAPPOINTING AT BEST: Needed my kitchen tiled, etc. Service Magic suggested Rufus Stone. He seemed like a nice guy. He was 4 hours for the estimate, but I hired him despite being leary of his reviews. Long story short, he was late every time & NEVER answered the phone. You basically have to contact him through his wife (weird) Lastly, 3 days before the work was to be finished, he just didn't show up. Finally tracked him down through his wife, and he eventually called me, very overwhealmed by taking on too many jobs... He said he couldn't do our job anymore, even though he had torn up my toilet and some tile. Now I'm stuck.

"This lead was to repair a window sill (as stated above in the project type) & each time we talked to the customer, more repairs were added to the job making a couple of hours job into a week long job which we did not have the time to do. He also decided at the last minute to put heater coils under his tile & he was advised that needed to be done & wired by an electrician, which we are not licensed for. We advised him to get someone else as we could not finish all his projects by Easter as he requested."

Customer service skills was superb - Time management skills were mediocre at best. Their work was overly price considering that they charged by the hour. Beause their time management skills were lacking to say the least, I think that they should charge by the job and let the customer know up front how much the job will cost. Then there will not be any suprizes when after 5 hours only 1/2 the work has been done (when it was estimated in the beginning that it would only take 2-21/2 hours for the entire job of 6 windowsto be complete). I feel like I was being charged for the conversation (It was too chatty if you are being charged by the hour).

"When we bid this job it was for a certain amount of windows with only curtain rods hung. When we arrived, more windows were added and we were then asked to hang curtains also and help design the swags. This job ended up taking longer than we expected, therefore, the end cost was more as it took more hours than we originally bid."

His wife called right away and gave me a very small hourly price quote to consider after I told her I was meeting the other person Service Magic recommended. The other guy was waaay too expensive for the simple lighting i wanted done so I quickly called Mid Atlantic. He came the next day to take a look at the house and another 2 days later he arrived in the evening. He and I talked for a bit about what I wanted done and how we'd run the lights, as mine were a little difficult since they had only 1 plugged end. But he got it done really fast, I tiny bit over 2 hours. He does other handy work too for the same hourly rate, we're keeping him

Took him over a month from the time he contacted me to start the job. When he finally did show up it took him about a week to finish the job. There were times when he failed to show up when he said he would. I wanted a 3.5 to 4 foot fence, he got a 3 foot. Nevertheless, I had him install the 3 foot fence but he did a shoddy job; the panels were either crooked or too low, screws were missing, some of the panels were measured improperly and cut too short. I had to get him to correct errors on several occasions. The front posts are not aligned and lastly the gate is in such poor shape that I'm gonna have to get someone else to correct it.

"The reason this job took over a month was because the customer could not decide what he wanted to do as the city would not let him build the fence as he wanted. We even spent our time going to the city and working with the permit office and didn't charge a fee for that service. The reason the gate is not working properly is because the customer insisted on a vinyl gate that was too big and couldn't be supported properly as we told him, but he insisted on having it installed that way. The actual installation time was about 5 days because of rain."

Mr. Stone came out and looked at the job. He honestly gave me a fair price and was able to adjust his schedule to accommodate my needs. He was here promptly and took care of all of my needs. I would certainly hire him again and recommmend him to friends and neighbors!
