Richard Alvord Architects provides full in-house professional design services for the built environment, including feasibility studies, site planning, landscape architecture, building design, space planning, furniture design, and phased construction planning. We combine our formal design expertise, knowledge of codes and regulations, and adept understanding of building systems with our clients ideas and desires to create meaningful buildings and spaces. Since 1991, Richard Alvord Architects has successfully completed a wide range of project types and sizes. Our recent work has concentrated on rehabilitation, renovation and additions to existing buildings. Whether for a small private residence or a 50,000 square foot office interior, we find creative ways to realize the full potential of existing spaces while minimizing costs and interruption time. We also have proven expertise with Child Development Centers, an extensive list of accomplished office interior projects as well as comprehensive feasibility studies for a variety of buildings. In addition, we have successfully completed many residences, master plans, recreational facilities and religious buildings. As a small firm, we organize ourselves non- heirarchically. Internally, this allows us to maximize each member's strengths. For our client, this not only assures accountability to the project from the entire office but also allows any questions, concerns or ideas to be addressed immediately. DESIGN APPROACH + METHODOLOGY Our top priority is client satisfaction, which we achieve through one proven simple method: quiet leadership. Without listening to these concerns we can?t provide a building that meets the needs, desires and concerns of all. As design leaders, we will provide our expert services and knowledge of renovation, programming, consensus building and site and building design to facilitate a smooth and efficient building site development process. Providing these services and clearly communicating our intent (through drawings, text and presentation) will allow everyone to make confident decisions concerning the project. Our approach follows directly from this principle. We begin by studying the site, assessing the building program, and developing a complete understanding of client's needs and desires. Budget and schedule parameters are defined, and the opportunities and limitations inherent in the project are discussed. Working closely with the client we establish an overall design concept from which strategies and supporting details emerge. We build a dialogue through conversation, image and text which allows all parties to understand and confidently make decisions.
