SKANDIA FLOORS was established by Michael Matotek and Tero Suominen, both graduates of Temple University business school. Michael got his start in the flooring industry by working with contracting companies and tradesmen in Beaver Falls, PA to help pay his college tuition. Tero learned the trade working with local craftsmen in Sweden and Finland. After 5 years of running a successful flooring business in Finland, Tero decided to pursue a higher education in America. In 1992, he brought his expertise and passion for flooring to the United States. After meeting at Temple and becoming close friends, Tero and Michael decided to combine their practical and business experience to form their own enterprise. EMPLOYEES of Skandia Floors have been given extensive installation, sanding, and refinishing training by Michael and Tero. They are also involved in training schools operated by the National Wood Flooring Association, Wood Flooring Manufacturers Association, BonaKemi and Pergo. QUALITY is very important to us. When we refinish your floors, you will have the choice of two of the most durable polyurethanes in the world, the Swedish waterborne polyurethane BonaKemi Traffic or BonaKemi Mega. According to data provided by an independent laboratory SGS U.S. Testing Company and Colorado State University, both Traffic and Mega have proven to be TWICE as durable as their competitors. SAFETY among flooring contractors is often overlooked. We make sure to provide a safe and healthy job site for you and our employees. We do not use lacquer or solvent based finishes which are highly flammable and hazardous to you and your family's health. Our waterborne polyurethanes are VOC compliant, nonflammable, fast drying, and virtually odorless. If something unfortunate were to happen in your home, we are fully covered by commercial liability and workers' compensation insurance. CUSTOMER SERVICE is directly monitored with company report cards that are given to all of our customers after a job is complete.
