I am finding it hard to complete your survey as my job was to be split into to parts....#1. An emergency remodel of one room to accommodate my suddenly very sick mother. #2. I wanted my kitchen renovated. Preston Mark understood that and agreed. I feel he over charged me for job number 1 as we (both he and I) found some of the things on his quote did not have to be done. In searching for things to make up the difference he bought and installed a new ceiling fan (It is an average fan, nice but not fancy at all and that's ok). The cost of the fan was probably around $100-$150. So then he asked if I wanted him to paint as I originally told him I would paint. It was an average size room - 4 walls - all the same shade of a common white shade, including baseboards. Originally there was no question about what floor tile to be installed as my entire house is Mexican with an open floor plan. Common sense would tell you that I wanted to keep that flow going. My final cost of Mr. Marks work was $900 above and beyond the original quote. His reasoning was...The purchase and installation of the fan, the painting and the fact that he had to go numerous places to find the floor tile (which by the way is not the best match but I do understand about Mexican tile and can live with it). When questioning him about the extra charge his defense was this, "You know I usually don't do small jobs like this." Please refer to the upper part of this not (Steps 1 and 2). In addition, he used silicon caulk (the kind you can not paint over), the excess was not cleaned up good and I am having a terrible time painting the accent wall. He did however, come back and repair the latch on the exterior door in a timely manner. I decided I would rather have someone else renovate my kitchen as my experience with Mr. Mark was not good! I
