I asked him to fix my garage door opener and install a GFI switch. After he told me he had repaired a hundred door openers, he proceeded to fiddle with mine for a full hour before he told me it was broken and he could not fix it. He installed the switch 3 times before he finished. (actually he got it right the first time but did not know it) He charged $75/hr which I think is very high. The agrument I have always heard when I question a professional's cost is that they know what they are doing and can do it in less time. If this guy knew what he was doing he certainly miliked the job to charge more; or he is very overpriced.

"We have an 1 1/2hr minimum service call charge ($111/$74hr) which is what this customer was charged. The garage door opener was old & the previous owner had modified it- cutting the sensor wires mis-wiring at the opener as well. This took time to troubleshoot. We don't rush to get the job done quickly, we try to get the job done correctly and we determined the opener was defective. The GFCI/switch was a box store switch, not a typical switch we install from our electrical supplier and did not have the proper information on the switch. Thank you for your feedback."

I got an almost immediate response from The Fabulous Mr. Fix It after submitting my needs to servicemagic.com. Adam was able to come on the same day, finished both of my projects in less than two hours and was very courteous and professional. Worth every penny! One of the projects needed some troubleshooting and exploration with my electrical outlets and Adam was able to find the issue quickly. Very good experience.
