Wheat's Celebrates 25 Years of Service Upon the 25th anniversary establishment, I've often been asked about how it all began. Growing up in what was once rural McLean I was very fortunate to have six strong mentors; my grandparents, aunt and uncle, and my parents. In my younger years, I failed to realize how blessed I was to be growing up with these family members living on either side of the home I shared with my parents. Reflecting back, I now recognize what a tremendous influence they all had on my life, and each of them is a part of who I am today. My ambition to be in business started around the age of eight. I began selling tomatoes in my front yard after school and on weekends. When I turned 16, I expressed a desire to take a job after school at the local Pizza Supreme. My father pointed out that it might be more profitable to mow lawns in the neighborhood. I wisely followed my father's advice. The one question I am most frequently asked at class reunions is "Are you still cutting grass?" I suppose the answer is a definite "Yes". One lawn led to another until the business evolved from family lawn care to a full service design, build and maintenance landscape company serving several thousand customers. I would like to thank my teachers, coaches, valued clients, staff and family for their support and advice along the way.
