"We just moved into a large house in Hickory from New Mexico. We had nothing that could maintain such a huge lawn area. We tried several lawn services and none were punctual (as in not showing up 2 weeks in a row). Across from the church we attend is a home with a lovely yard....well trimmed....plantings healthy.... and a sign that said: Maintained by The Ground Keeper. I got a very pleasant human being who took my number and address and said that Steve would come out the next day to chat with me at our home. Steve arrived as promised and asked me to let him mow the lawn first to get a feel for it before discussing price with no obligation. After finishing (he and his partner did a very nice job), we agreed on a price and a set day for it to be mowed. He also walked my wife and I around our entire yard, told us what every planting was, what care it needed now (if any) and care in the future. His partner offered us options for altering our back yard tree line including tree removal and tree planting. <br /> <br /> Two weeks ago we decided to remove a tree in our back yard and replace it with a crepe myrtle. I mentioned it to Steve and he asked us to let him see if he could get us a good tree at a better price than we could get for the same size. Last week he chatted with me to make sure of the color, size, and price and mentioned that a second crepe myrtle could be planted to balance the yard better. The end result is that Steve and his partner showed up last week as scheduled, mowed the lawn, dug out that big old tree with a small backhoe, planted 2 large gorgeous crepe myrtles and hauled off the stump for $275. We weren't even home while it was being done and it was all done perfectly. <br />"

"<p>We have a large front yard (about an acre) and it was very bland.  We had replaced our foundation planting last year but we needed to something more to make it pop.  We found Artistic Landscaping through Angie's List and called them for a consult. Paul came out and listened to our ideas. He came back the next week with some ideas and an estimate.  To move the lawn from mostly grass to have some focal points outside of the foundation planting, we decided to take down a large Sycamore which blocked sight lines to the golf course, put in a retaining wall at the front of yard to highlight some our Japanese maples and build a pebble walkway from the corner to our front door.  We split the work into two parts, removing the tree and putting the retaining wall was done in August and the walkway was done in October.  All the work was done very professionally.</p> <br />"

"Frank is our service person and we cannot recommend him or A1 highly enough!  Service by A1 is outstanding.  When we hired landscaping work last spring, they told us that they had observed termites in the yard.  We called A1 and they sent a man out right away for a no charge inspection.  The inspection was done very thoroughly and professionally, there were no termites actually. Following the inspection, Frank was very friendly and informative.  While there was no sales pressure at all, we hired A1 on the spot for their year round treatments.  We've been most pleased with the pest control between the quarterly regular appointments.  Any time a pest problem arises, we phone to request help - Frank comes immediately to assess and treat - PROBLEM SOLVED! <br />"
