"Conti Landscaping did an amazing job from start to finish. I was contacted almost immediately after putting in my request for the sod installation for my front yard and Chris came out to take a look the next day. His pricing was very fair compared to some other landscapers in the area, and he was able to do the work within a week of us meeting. He was very communicative as to how he wanted to complete the project and what days he was available to do so. Chris and his team showed up on time both days to complete the sod installation at my home and it looks great. Everyone was kind, knowledgeable, and did a great job. I would absolutely hire Conti Landscaping again for any future needs at my home!"

"I agreed to replace 2 METAL sprinkler heads. I was billed for 3 PLASTIC heads. I contacted Pacific Lawn several times to correct the invoice and they insisted that I received 3 METAL heads whereas the invoice billed me for 3 PLASTIC. heads. I was not satisfied with their handling of the whole process."

"I called them them to replace the fuse in my generator after an electrical storm had damaged it. I knew the fuse was busted because my next door neighbor had an identical issue from the same storm. The electrician came out, inspected the generator and left without making any repairs. I got a bill for a $250 service visit and a call telling me I needed to replace the fuses in my generator which would require an additional $125 service call + $25 for parts. Either they are inept or deliberately trying to rip me off with multiple unnecessary service visits, either way I would avoid."

"Owner: Craig Tkaczenko was extremely knowledgeable, professional and very pleasant to work with. He took the time to explain the process and requirements of the work in detail from a design perspective and down to the technical details. He kept me briefed on every step of the way. From the beginning to the end. He would report onsite everyday and paid much attention to detail. He professionally managed his team throughout the process and the results of the job was outstanding. His staff, they were all very pleasant, they went the extra mile to make certain that I was satisfied and did things according to how I wanted. I definitely would recommend them and would hire them for any other work I would need done. Hire him and have no fear. You will be pleasantly surprised and he will get the work done stress free."

"Reliant is the worst contractor who has ever worked on my property. I came to them from Angie's List.. For a while they were fine. The last few times I needed their services, I had to call several times before they responded. Then, they would make appointments that they either do not show up for or kept re-scheduling. The most recent time I used them, it took over 4 telephone calls before they responded with all kinds of lame excuses. Once scheduled there were postponements and when they did do the "work" it was awful. I will never use them again and anyone who does would be crazy to do so. Reliant is far from that. They are totally incompetent."

FAQs for holiday lighting add or remove projects in Clifton, NJ

If climbing ladders or handling wiring isn’t in your comfort zone, hire a pro. Look for installers who post clear per-foot or hourly rates, carry insurance, and have solid reviews. Comparing at least three quotes helps you spot fair pricing without sacrificing safety. Skipping credentials to save a few dollars can cost you far more in repairs, so pick a qualified team and enjoy a safe, eye-catching display.

Yes, booking between February and September often scores lower rates because demand is light and pros have open calendars. You might even negotiate a discount package that includes removal or storage. If the budget is tight, ask whether a handyperson or an off-season permanent-light install makes sense for your home and timeline.

Determining the number of holiday lights for your house depends on your home’s size and specific decorative vision. Your project requires 10 to 20 light strands for a basic exterior display, with 100 lights allocated for eaves and an additional 10 to 20 bulbs for each awning.

For trees and substantial shrubs, allocate five to 10 strands per unit to achieve complete and balanced illumination across your property.

Tipping isn’t mandatory, but it’s a nice way to thank your installer for a job well done. Most homeowners offer 10% to 20% of the total bill or round up to an even figure if the crew exceeds expectations. A small extra goes a long way toward showing appreciation—and may help you snag priority booking next season.

Yes, you can install holiday lights yourself if your property layout is straightforward and your electrical system is secure. Homeowners who are confident in their ability to safely handle wiring and use proper equipment can save money with a DIY approach.

However, it is crucial to test all outlets thoroughly and secure the proper ladders and safety gear before starting. Careful planning and adherence to safety guidelines are essential to protect yourself and your home while achieving an attractive display.

Start by clearing the area of loose debris, damaged shingles, and anything that could trip you up. Test outdoor outlets and, if you’re unsure, bring in an electrician. Use a sturdy extension ladder (or scaffolding for very high spots) and never work alone—having a helper steady the ladder is non-negotiable. Taking these simple steps keeps you, your roof, and your new lights safe.
