The project involved replacing a critical 6x6 support post that had rotted at the base and was causing the deck to lean. As you can imagine, this situation had me seriously concerned about both safety and potential long-term damage. Mr. Ellis understood the urgency and approached the job with confidence, professionalism, and care. From start to finish, Mr. Ellis and his assistant were prompt, courteous, and incredibly knowledgeable. He took the time to cut out the old concrete, inspect and secure the footers, and replace the post properly—restoring both the structural integrity and my peace of mind. The quality of his work and attention to detail was obvious. It’s clear he takes great pride in what he does, and he’s not satisfied until the job is done right. It’s rare these days to find a contractor who is as skilled, honest, and personally involved as Mr. Ellis. His friendly demeanor, clear communication, and deep expertise made the entire process easy and stress-free. "We write this review as a sigh of relief now that our renovation project with River View is finally complete. The quality of the final work is excellent, and the construction crew, architect, and county inspector were all great to work with. The original crew we worked with, led by Edwin, were so hardworking, friendly, thorough, and fast. That's what really pushed us from 2 to 3 stars. However, the process getting here was frustrating and unnecessarily chaotic. Timeline & Communication Issues: Initial promise: We were clear that the renovation had to allow us to live in our home during construction and be completed before Christmas. Early communication: Our original project manager, Cris, was personable, and early communication seemed fine, if a bit informal and sometimes inappropriately personal. Major miscommunication: Near the holidays, we discovered that the plans submitted included cutting into the roof — something we explicitly said we didn’t want. This contradicted verbal assurances and caused major last-minute changes. Project Management Failures: Poor planning and oversight: Cris and the architect’s plan didn’t align with the construction work. We had to get involved directly with the county to fix errors. Paperwork errors: Incorrect submissions to the county added delays and confusion, which we had to monitor ourselves. Last-minute scramble: We were cleaning up dust on Christmas Eve due to these planning failures. Personnel Turnover & Lack of Handoff: Cris leaves the company: No proper handover to James, the new PM, who was unfamiliar with our project. Crew replaced: The original crew, who were great, were gone; new crew had no context or direction. James leaves: Another handoff with no context — the third PM had no idea about our project or its outstanding items. Escalation mishandled: When we raised our concerns with Kyle, the CEO, the response felt dismissive, with no accountability for the previous missteps. In summary, it's a beautiful end result... but we’re glad it’s over. The process left us frustrated, confused, and frankly, exhausted."

"We recently hired Deck Builders, Inc (DBI) to build a new screened porch with a replacement deck and stairs and are very pleased with the results. The owner, Ricardo Anturiano, and the work crew- led by Ronald — were professional, courteous, and hard working. Ricardo was frequently on site and available to answer questions in person, by phone or text. We interviewed 4 different builders in our area before ultimately choosing DBI for several reasons: First, DBI was able to provide the TimberTech composite boards and railings we preferred; second, they offered the most reasonable pricing for our project; and third, we were impressed with their level of expertise and decades of experience. DBI completed our project within budget and the quality of their workmanship is outstanding. If you are looking for an honest, skilled builder, we highly recommend Deck Builders, Inc!"

"Initial rep was great and informative. Felt comfortable with initial sale. Hardly had any contact from customer service except for the payments. There were several delays that we were not informed about unless we called to ask. Took 7 months before they showed up to begin project. Only 1 person was sent to build steps. Took a week. Hard worked, hardly took a break. Had to call again to see when they would come to pour patio. Never knew when they were coming, they just showed up. Hardly spoke with the homeowners. Inspection paperwork was just left on porch. Additional paperwork that is "required by the County" had to be completed by homeowner and taken to Court house to be notarized and filed and also provide a copy back to Long Fence. Time sensitive materials which added to homeowners to-do list. Gave this contract to LF on the surface of their history and appearance of a 'good local company' but should have stayed with original contactors in VA. Puddle of water forms when it rains"
