"Andrew is a nice guy, but I think my project was over his head. I had him fill 4 large holes on my property and grade an area for my son s playscape. The holes were covered well, but the leveling for the playscape was not as good as I hoped. The really issue I had was with his organization or time management. Right off the bat he missed 2 appointments to come look at the job. One his called and said he could not make it and then next time he just did not show. The only reason I hired him was because he did not require any money up front. When he did finally agree to start the job there were a lot of missed promises. For example he would tell me he would be there early in the morning and not show up until late morning or afternoon. He told me he would be there before the soil was to be delivered and did not show up that day. After the project was running late, he told me I was his top priority. When I am told that I would think you would be there first thing in the morning. When he said that the next day he showed up around 3pm. There were many other times where he would say one thing and then do another, and most times he would not contact me until way after he missed a deadline. In my opinion he did not have the correct equipment to do a job of this size either. For a few days he was just using a lawn mower and trailer to move over 40 cubic yards of soil. The trailer he was using looked as it was the size of two wheelbarrows together. It was not until over a week into the job he rented a bobcat to do the job, finally ditching the trailer and shovels. Overall I am glad the work was done, but it took a week longer than expected and there was always an excuse for they delay. Only reason I went with him was he did have a good price, and I did not pay him until the job was done. If I had the choice to do it again I do not think I would use AK Property Management due to this experience."

FAQs for lawn care aeration projects in East-canaan, CT

Aeration is the best way to keep your lawn healthy and vibrant. Annual aeration makes your lawn more breathable and helps nutrients reach the roots, improving water absorption and reducing puddles where pests might breed. However, timing matters. It's best to avoid aerating during droughts, extreme heat, or if your lawn is battling weeds. A local pro can help you determine the ideal time for your yard.

Most lawns benefit from annual aeration to keep them healthy and thriving. If your lawn has a lot of thatch buildup—more than half an inch—you might need to aerate twice a year for a couple of years to get it under control. But if your soil isn't compacted and there's minimal thatch, you might be able to skip a year.

When you hire a professional lawn care company, a standard 10,000-square-foot lawn takes about 30 minutes to aerate. Uneven, sloped, or especially large lawns can take significantly more time. So, depending on your lawn's size and condition, the process can take anywhere from half an hour to several hours.

The best time to aerate your lawn is during the spring or fall when your grass is actively growing and the soil has enough moisture. Aerating once in the spring and once in the fall yields the best results. Avoid aerating when your lawn is dormant or right after heavy rain when the soil is too wet—that can make aeration less effective.

Even if your lawn looks healthy, aeration can still be beneficial. If you have good growth, proper drainage, and little thatch, you might not need to aerate right away. Regular aeration helps water and nutrients reach the roots, keeping your lawn strong over time. Keep an eye on your lawn's condition to decide when it might need aeration.
