His time with the PGA gave James great access to and hands-on experience with, creating and preserving low-cost, environmentally sensitive areas registered with the National Audubon Society. In order to maintain Audubon status, these areas must be low-maintenance, esthetically pleasing and provide natural food and shelter for native wildlife. IPM is an acronym for Integrated Pest Management, an approach to dealing with the various pests of crops, landscapes, and structures, which incorporates multiple concepts from the disciplines of systems science, and ecology.
