"Ron came out to tour the property around October just to talk through problem areas with the trees and remedy options.  He seems very knowledgeable and it was great to talk to him about tree care and also general landscape challenges.  He told me how the excavation that had occurred during construction of the house (7 years ago) had damaged roots of some large trees near the house - this is why they were showing wounds.  In addition to the growth inhibitor for the damaged large trees, he helped me decide to cut down some box elder trees and offered some advice on how best to remove honeysuckle and his thoughts on the best replacement trees/shrubs.  Our Austrian Pines were suffering from some sapsucker and bug attacks so we signed up for seasonal care to help combat the effects.  I guess the downside is that I'm not really sure if any of this will work until a year or two down the road? <br />"

"Weird, very uneven experience. <br /> <br /> GOOD: They were responsive and helpful on the phone. They quoted a price in line with other providers. That, coupled with the Angies List deal they had, made me select them. They showed up to do the work on schedule. They did a nice job clearing and trimming in the front yard. They did a decent job on shrubs in the back yard. <br /> <br /> POOR: But they essentially ignored the back lawn, though the grass was over 1 foot long. When I called to complain, the explanation was "grass grows fast this time of year," even though I had pictures showing foot-long grass less than 48 hours after their visit. They did eventually go back,  even did some additional tidying-up work not originally specified, and this time they did cut the grass...but left it lying in huge clumps all over the lawn, so the realtor was showing off piles of dead brown grass instead of green lawn.  <br /> So, if you don't have any grass to cut as part of your job, these folks might be just fine. They do good work on shrubs and brush, are responsive via email and phone, charge a fair price, and show up and finish on time. But if you need the grass cut, get a neighbor kid to do it. And I would highly suggest that you only use them if you are able to supervise the work. <br /> <br /> <br /> UPDATED SUMMARY - In the end, the responsiveness and professionalism of the person answering the phone and doing the scheduling was enough to make up for most of the negatives. They completed the work (without charging me extra), and the end result was quite nice. Only marking them down from an A to a B because it took several attempts to get things straight, and the folks doing the actual work seemed to need very specific instructions in order to get through the job.  <br /> <br /> Recommended for any job _if_ you can walk through it with them and do some basic supervision/review. Maybe not the best folks to use if you can't be on the property with them."
