"We hired Bertie Walsh to re-do our garage ceiling which had been incorrectly repaired by a different contractor (not a contractor found on Angie's List).  Bertie was a godsend because after he removed the ceiling he pointed out to us that the previous contractor had failed to connect the blue board to the joist (not sure if that's the right word) and there also wasn't any strapping holding it to the subsurface, which would have caused it to eventually bow out.  Bertie put a new section of ceiling up and finished it with plaster and did a remarkable job matching the existing ceiling.

Bertie is quiet and hard working.  No fluff with this guy.  He's an honest, no-nonsense guy who will give you a very reasonable quote, will show up when he says he will, and then quietly and diligently do the work.  He cleaned up well after the work was completed.  I found myself looking for other things that needed plastering or handiwork around the house just so we could hire him again.  Yep, he is that good!

"I needed a repair on my ceiling with a scroll pattern. I had quotes from several companies. MJM Plastring was the only one that indicated that I had a "sand finish scroll pattern" on my ceiling and replied that he had done repairs on these patterns before. Extensive water damage on an existing lath and plaster ceiling in house built in 1790 in Salem MA> Sergjo carefully covered bookcases , furniture, oriental carpets. He carefully prepared the damaged areas and repaired and replaced the damaged areas with 2 part plaster. He sanded and re painted the ceiling which is now absolutely perfect. He did a thorough cleanup including wiping surfaces that were protected during the project. One day for the repair, overnight curing of the plaster, sanding and oil prime and final finish coat on the second afternoon. Two enjoyable days with a very nice guy start to finish. He would be perfect for any historic restoration."
