"Wilber’s Painting was excellent in their communications, followed through on their commitments, and completed the task in a manner that we have had no reason to go back to ask for correction or for a fix. They kept their schedule commitments and finished the job early. They are on our permit list of contractors we will use when we need drywall and painting work in our home."

"Before hiring Elite Painting I requested bids from several other painters in the Winchester area.  Elite Painting was competitively priced, professional, and willing to work with my schedule.  In the end, it came down to feeling most comfortable with having Joey and his crew in my home.  After they completed the first phase of painting I was incredibly impressed.  Not only did they paint well, but they went above and beyond to patch areas in the walls and ceiling that were damaged pretty significantly.  Joey kept in touch with me throughout the process and on several occasions I stopped by to check in with him and his crew.  They were all friendly, efficient, professional and accommodating.
I am an extremely detail-oriented and demanding client and my home renovations are on a tight timeline and budget.  Joey and Elite Painting have exceeded my expectations with the quality and timeliness of their work and professionalism.  Joey is incredibly responsive, reliable and thorough and was willing to work around a schedule that included several interruptions.  We've now worked together on three different phases of interior painting (including a two-story foyer, high ceilings with molding and stair railing) and I am incredibly happy with the results.  I highly recommend Elite Painting.

"I've been doing this job myself every 4-5 years, but it's a ton of work. This time I wanted to hire it out and switch products to something more durable than the oil stain I've been using. The house has been well-maintained, but was due. Marshall Painter is old school, and very experienced. He's been a log home builder for many years and knows his stuff. He came out very quickly to look at the job, gave me a quote on the spot and said he could start within a week or so. We talked about products, and he recommended one he'd been using for years with good results. A second company I called didn't bother to come out and look at the house, they simply had me send pictures, then quoted an obscenely high price - 3x what Marshall was asking. They were going to treat the house very aggressively, with a heavy power wash, followed by sanding the entire house. They even had a line item on the quote charging for travel time, and warned that if my well wasn't up to keeping their power washers busy I would have to pay for a water truck at $600 or more per day. To add insult to injury they warned me it could be as much as three weeks before they got time to quote the job, and 3-4 months before they could start work. In contrast, Marshall is a fan of being as gentle as possible when cleaning a log house. He's got products and processes that work for him and takes a cautious approach. I realized that some heavier stripping might be necessary on some of the less-weathered sides of the house, and it was. I introduced Marshall to a stripper that I had used before with great results, and we negotiated an increase in price for the extra effort to strip three sides of the house. I'm a handy guy, and having done it several times I know what it takes to do this job. I'm very picky, and tend to over-think things sometimes. On top of that I'm used to doing things myself, not hiring contractors. This all probably makes me a bit of a challenge for contractors. I ask a lot of questions, I agonize over decisions, and I want to understand the details. I make a decent living, but $8000 is a lot of money to me, and I wanted to spend it wisely. Marshall was patient with all my questions, and made a consistent effort to make sure I understood every step of the process, why they did it the way they did, and the range of possible outcomes. I wouldn't call Marshall old, but he's not a young man. He didn't do any of the work personally, though he has done it all in his younger days. He was on site every day, usually several times, to ensure his subs were paying attention to the details and make sure they had the materials they needed. He's not picking guys up off the corner either - he's worked with the same subs for many years, and they clearly work well together and respect each other. Marshall has high standards and his subs clearly do too - they obviously take pride in their work. They were very careful to mask off the large surfaces and even the little details like the doorbell and the outdoor faucets. The crew who applied the first coat of stain left quite a bit of trash and debris around the site when they left, which was disappointing. But when Marshall showed up the next morning, the first words out of his mouth were an apology. He said he was disappointed because they knew he expected better, and he would have a word with them. And before knocking on the door he'd already made a trip around the house picking up trash. He couldn't have handled it better. I'm very pleased with the end result, and the whole experience I will definitely hire GALH again. I have some interior painting that needs to be done, and they do that too. Not to mention decks and just about anything else you can imagine. Great American Log Homes doesn't have a fancy web site, a secretary, or a marketing department. What they do have is an owner who is detail-oriented, experienced, and truly cares about delivering a quality job and making his customers happy, and surrounds himself with like-minded people to ensure that it happens."

"

We had flood damage to our basement. I called Dave to assess to the need for repainting. He came the same day to provide an estimate and was able to begin work within two days. Dave's estimate was in the middle range in terms of price so based on that and his friendly and professional demeanor, I decided to give him a try.

I have not been disappointed. The finished work far exceeds my expectations. During the project Dave and his crew were always very neat and respectful of our very busy home. He always showed up when he said he would and even came back after new carpet was installed to repair the scratches and scuffs that popped up.

I highly recommend him for any painting project.

FAQs for exterior home or structure paint or stain projects in Front Royal, VA

For aluminum siding, go with a high-quality 100% acrylic exterior paint. Start with an oil-based primer to ensure the finish adheres and shields the metal from oxidation and moisture. The primer seals the surface and provides the acrylic with a surface to grip. Skip latex primers or paints—their reaction with aluminum can trap bubbles and cause early peeling.

How long will painted aluminum siding last?

A well-done paint job on aluminum siding can last around 15 years, making the upfront effort worthwhile. Longevity hinges on solid prep: thoroughly cleaning the surface to remove chalky residue, dirt, and mildew so the new paint can adhere properly. It’s also important to paint when temperatures are between 50°F and 80°F, as extreme heat or cold can affect drying and adhesion. Steer clear of rainy days—moisture under the paint weakens adhesion and speeds up peeling or fading, which can significantly shorten the lifespan of your fresh coat.

Plan on repainting when the finish starts fading or leaves a chalky, white residue on your hand. Check the siding each year; if there’s a powdery residue on your palm, it indicates oxidation is underway on your siding. A fresh coat of paint stops peeling before it starts, boosts curb appeal, and keeps the metal protected.

Spray painting aluminum siding offers significant benefits compared to other application styles. Spray painting delivers even coverage, rapid application, and enhanced adhesion compared to traditional painting methods. This technique ensures every surface is evenly coated, minimizes labor time, and provides a sleek, professional finish that withstands weather and oxidation for lasting results.

The return on investment for aluminum siding is 70%. For example, a $10,000 aluminum siding installation will add $7,000 to your home’s resale value. Regional housing markets, the quality of siding materials, and ongoing upkeep—including repainting and repairs—influence final ROI. Investing in professional installation and regular maintenance ensures you recoup a significant portion of your siding costs when it’s time to sell.

Several materials can replace aluminum siding, each offering unique trade-offs. Vinyl siding requires minimal upkeep and resists fading, lasting up to 30 years. Wood siding provides classic warmth but demands regular painting or sealing. Fiber cement and composite siding offer exceptional durability and design flexibility, requiring minimal maintenance. Brick veneer and stucco create premium, long-lasting exteriors, but they come with higher upfront costs and increased installation complexity.
