Steketee Turf Service is a locally owned lawn care business that has been providing various lawn services to the Caledonia, MI area for over 30 years. We are members of several organizations, including the Michigan Turf Grass Foundation, the Small Business Association of Michigan, and the Michigan Nursery and Landscape Association. We provide a high quality service, as evidenced by our motto: making the grass greener on your side of the fence. Steketee Turf Service provides a variety of different lawn care and lawn maintenance services. We perform lawn aeration, core aeration, lawn fertilizing, and weed control. We also offer lawn and perimeter pest control services. We employ certified technicians that are capable of handling all of your lawn care and fertilization needs in Caledonia. We are locally owned and operated and we like to apply a personal touch to all of our services. When you call on Steketee Turf Service for your lawn maintenance requirements, you are calling on true experts. We personalize our programs to fit your needs. Call on us to perform your lawn fertilizing services. Lawns need a certain number of nutrients in order to thrive. Most notably, lawns require nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium. Nitrogen is the most important nutrient for growth and development. It promotes root and shoot growth, density, and a healthy green color. Phosphorous is essential to the photosynthesis process and is important in seed growth. Potassium is the second most-used nutrient by grass, right behind nitrogen. It aids in hardiness and disease resistance, and has a high potential to be lost by leaching. Steketee Turf Service has the knowledge necessary to determine which nutrients your lawn is deficient in so that we can fertilize it properly. We offer a 5-step program for lawn care. In the early spring, we apply a complete balanced fertilizer with pre-emergent crabgrass control. In late spring, we apply a fertilizer with weed control. In the summer we apply a balanced fertilization and spot treatment for weeds. In fall we apply another fertilization and broadleaf weed control. By late fall, your lawn is preparing for winter so we apply a winter dormant feeding that promotes root development and helps your lawn be green sooner next spring. We also do core aeration which involves removing small plugs of grass and soil from the lawn to give the roots room to expand and take in nutrients. Compact soil can make it hard for your lawn to take in nutrients, and that is where core aeration services come in. Crabgrass is a problem, but it doesn’t have to be with Steketee Turf Service. A healthy lawn has more protection against crabgrass as crabgrass needs open spaces to grow and thrive. If your lawn is healthy, it is less likely to have bald patches and is therefore hardier against crabgrass all on its own. Rely on us to make your lawn healthy enough to resist crabgrass and other diseases! 8 EMPLOYEES. NO SUBS. COST IS DETERMINED BY THE JOB. NO TRAVEL CHARGES.

"Great. They're professional and punctual. Price is on par with other lawn servicers. We were doing our own fertilizing and decided to have someone else do it. We chose them over others because we had used them years ago at our previous home and had great results."

"In one year they nearly destroyed my lawn. I filed several complaints and the owner was very vindictive and threatening, even coming to my house after I told him I was having Chemo treatments and could not have visitors. They ruined my flowers and had no concern that my lawn looked like crap all the time."

"Their snow-plowing service is horrible. They do not own up to their mistakes. They damaged the driveway (and ripped off my lawn- not in the picture). Woods landscaping is not willing to fix this. We contacted their business and their Operation's manager (Jason Harmon) is blaming the builder and asphalt company for doing inferior work. The asphalt was newly built 4yrs ago. So only hire their services if you are willing to pay for all the damages they do to your property due to their own negligence."

"I have noticed people complaining on Facebook lately about unreliable service and poor communication they have gotten in some instances from companies they've contracted with for snowplowing. I can't overstate the peace of mind it gives, knowing, from my years of doing business with Harkes Landscape Management, that it's never been a concern of mine, nor do I anticipate it ever will be. The way they have been servicing our property, especially during this unusually harsh winter, is truly awesome and appreciated. Their faithfulness, reliability, and excellence are unwavering. The blower equipment they use is particularly efficient and leaves a clean look, especially compared to the more standard plowing results most commonly seen in people's driveways. I can't recommend them highly enough."

"It went well for two years. This year they never came on time. They came twice and both times it was after I had already shoveled. I called to cancel service and they asked to be given another chance. The next time it snowed they didn't show up at all. I cancelled service with the understanding that they would reimburse us for all but the two plows they "did". When we finally received our check it was prorated for 5 plows. I called again and was basically called a liar. We have surveillance and asked them for the dates and times of the supposed extra plows. They were unable to provide those dates and times, because they didn't happen. It's a shame. We need some landscaping done and I would have hired them, even with the bad experience with snow removal this year. Now I think of them as both unreliable and dishonest."
