"The pro has been servicing our Mclean property quite well for a couple of years. Our lawn looks good and we are satisfied with the service. The customer service is sometimes underwhelming but it gets the job done at a reasonable cost which is really becoming harder by the day to get."

"Terrible! We wanted a comprehensive service. Spring cleanup, mulching beds, weeding, edging, lawn treatments, hedge trimming, fall cleanup. Everything except lawn mowing (which they don't do). The price was high, but I signed up so that everything would be taken care of. It seemed like every few weeks we would run into something that "wasn't in the contract, but they would be happy to do for an additional cost". Right now I'm looking out at my lawn full of leaves. Apparently, raking/blowing the leaves isn't included in the "fall cleanup". But they will be happy to do it for another $500 (on top of the $5,000 I'm already paying for "comprehensive service"). They never answer the phone, and don't return phone calls. One department doesn't speak to the other. So we got a call from the lawn treatment team telling us they can't treat the lawn until the leaves are removed, so we called to ask when the leaves will be removed from the lawn. They gave us a date, but no one showed up. We call several times over the course of several weeks, and finally get a team out, but they end up cleaning only the beds, not the lawn. When we ask why we were told they would be cleaning the lawn, we get the run around. The treatment team often showed up on rainy days, so I doubt the lawn got much fertilizer. We told them we wanted some new rhododendrons (happy to pay extra for this, of course), and they never asked me what type of rhododendrons to plant. Instead one day I just found we had new bushes, which weren't what I had in mind (they have small leaves instead of the large leaf ones, and I have no idea what color flowers. I guess I'll find out next spring). They left no instructions for care of the new bushes. My lawn has NEVER looked worse. They filled some low spots on the lawn with topsoil (again, an extra charge for that even though it was just a few spots), and we ended up with an infestation of nutsedge. We had never had nutsedge before, so I'm pretty sure it came in with their topsoil. They were happy to charge me extra to treat it for nutsedge (I ended up doing it myself). I have seldom had such a horrible experience with a service provider."

"I highly recommend them. Not only is the fence beautiful, now one year later, but I was impressed with the team’s professionalism, hard work, staying on my job until completion. Important as well was the respect, integrity and good humor they exhibited, both working together and interfacing with me and my neighbors. I highly recommend them!"

"This was the worst experience I have ever had with a contractor. On 9/21/18 I approved the estimate for a retaining wall. I was told they would be there the next week to start. They never showed up so I followed up with emails and phones calls weekly with no response. They finally showed up on Oct. 29th. I went with the owner to pick out block for the wall, I chose a block from what he showed me were my options. He had me pay for the material upfront. The next day he told me he did not realize how much the material would cost so he would be using a lesser quality so he wouldn't lose money (I waited over a month to get my refund for the difference in price). Once the crew arrived they complained quite frequently about the owner and one of them quit mid-project. They also did not show up everyday. The wall is not straight, has gaps, and several pieces were not glued down so they now can be lifted right off the wall. When I paid the remaining balance I made the check out to The Grounds Guys but Matt made me rip up the check and make it out to him personally so he wouldn't have to pay the franchise fees. During the project my NEW front lawn was ruined due to their trucks driving over it. I was told that it would be repaired either at the end of the project or early Spring. I contacted Matt in May about it and he said "I haven't forgotten about you". I am writing this on July 2nd, 2019 and he never showed up. I ended up having 3 yards of dirt delivered ($120) and I bought seed ($40) myself and fixed it. I have filed a complaint with corporate and am currently waiting to hear back."

FAQs for lawn care aeration projects in Henrietta, NY

Aeration is the best way to keep your lawn healthy and vibrant. Annual aeration makes your lawn more breathable and helps nutrients reach the roots, improving water absorption and reducing puddles where pests might breed. However, timing matters. It's best to avoid aerating during droughts, extreme heat, or if your lawn is battling weeds. A local pro can help you determine the ideal time for your yard.

Most lawns benefit from annual aeration to keep them healthy and thriving. If your lawn has a lot of thatch buildup—more than half an inch—you might need to aerate twice a year for a couple of years to get it under control. But if your soil isn't compacted and there's minimal thatch, you might be able to skip a year.

When you hire a professional lawn care company, a standard 10,000-square-foot lawn takes about 30 minutes to aerate. Uneven, sloped, or especially large lawns can take significantly more time. So, depending on your lawn's size and condition, the process can take anywhere from half an hour to several hours.

The best time to aerate your lawn is during the spring or fall when your grass is actively growing and the soil has enough moisture. Aerating once in the spring and once in the fall yields the best results. Avoid aerating when your lawn is dormant or right after heavy rain when the soil is too wet—that can make aeration less effective.

Even if your lawn looks healthy, aeration can still be beneficial. If you have good growth, proper drainage, and little thatch, you might not need to aerate right away. Regular aeration helps water and nutrients reach the roots, keeping your lawn strong over time. Keep an eye on your lawn's condition to decide when it might need aeration.
