"Paid $75 Deductible through American Homeshield to sub contract Me.Rooter Plumbing Scam: Martin, with Mr. Rooter arrived & used a camera underneath the home to try & diagnose the leak issue in the laundry room. He didn't do anything else to figure out the cause of the leak. His repair quote was for $8,500 & when he was told that seemed high for the repair, he said the best he could do it for was $6,500. He immediately referred a water damage company to access the damage at no charge. That company said water damage was $2,200. We called another reputable plumber to get a second opinion & they immediately identified a cracked pipe in the P Trap and repaired all for $201. They also stated there was no major water damage. MR. Rooter conducted unethical business practices & provided fraudulent information"

"UPDATE So now 2 weeks after Erik Pena came to fix 4-5 zones for me, 15 out of my 19 zones no longer work (and I honestly don’t know for how long; only tested it 5 days ago and found out). So Pena came back today and said some line “is cut” and the office told me he’d get 30 minutes to find the cut and then would go from there. Of course 30 minutes later, they said couldn’t find the cut. I checked on them an hour later and they were checking in the areas they’d worked in last time. They now told me they were checking to see if my old lines in that area worked (a complete 180 from them wandering around looking for a cut line). I came out later to check on them and Pena was on the phone chatting and both of them were not working. He made eye contact and clearly saw me walking towards him but he decided to ignore me and walked away towards his truck and kept on talking. After a couple minutes waiting, I decided to record. Then I asked his partner, Darwin, if he was calling the office, to which he said “I dunno.” I called the office to double check and while I was waiting for office to check, Pena came to tell me he’d need to run whole new lines of wires for me because my “wires are too old, too many cuts”….. After a few minutes, he found out I’d called the office to check on him and got real mad, told me I should’ve been man enough to ask him “face to face”…Well, I said I would if he didn’t just deliberately walk away from me. And I asked his partner Darwin face to face, man to man, whether Erik Burgos Pena was talking to the office. He was too butthurt and decided to walk off my property and said someone else would do the work. And he overcharged my hours deliberately for today, “2.75 hours”…for the work done between around 10:15a-11:50a. I know because I specifically looked at the time knowing this guy. In response, Pena said he got the time too and I could talk to the office if I want, then he drove off. I sure called the office and Yolanda sure confirmed my time and readjusted the hours. Pena had the audacity to FLIP ME OFF as he was driving away from my property. REMEMBER THE NAME. REMEMBER THE COMPANY. That’s all I gotta say. Read the other negative reviews. There are plenty of other companies. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY ERIK BURGOS PENA. —————- I have spent over 5K on these guys in 2023. They did complete system checks and still missed leaks I would later find. They changed a bunch of leaky sprinkler heads for me (I have 19 zones and a lot of problems/work for them) in April and May. One of the ones they just replaced started leaking profusely again so I asked them to come back to fix. They said they never replaced that and showed me the pictures of what the other technicians had taken. If I have the ability to spend over 5K on them, another $40 for a sprinkler head doesn’t carry a lot of weight for me. I certainly don’t need to be making anything up. It was infuriating to see a company not only refuse to take accountability for their work but wouldn’t even take the courtesy of calling up the prior techs to verify. The prior techs were also the only ones that worked around the valve boxes and now a few weeks later, they came and found the wires “cut”….And I had to pay $1900 to fix that. It couldn’t have been the landscaper (lines were buried) and I certainly didn’t dig in those areas (just have to trust me on this). DON’T USE THEM. I certainly never will."

FAQs for range hood installation projects in Highlands, TX

While venting a range hood outside is optimal for removing heat, smoke, odors, and grease, it's not always required. Ductless range hoods use filters to clean the air before recirculating it back into the kitchen. However, vented (also called ducted) hoods are more effective at maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment.

No, a vented hood is not legally required for a gas range. However, installing a vented range hood above your gas range removes concentrated odors, fumes, and grease from your kitchen air and promotes a safer, cleaner cooking environment. This installation improves air quality and aligns with safety guidelines while ensuring that harmful particles are effectively expelled from your home.

To capture cooking emissions efficiently, you must install your range hood at a specified height above the cooktop. For electric stoves, mount the hood 24 inches above the cooktop; for gas appliances, secure it 30 inches high. This precise installation ensures optimal performance and complies with safety and building codes while maximizing the unit’s effectiveness.

Yes, you must install a range hood over an electric stove because these appliances generate smoke, heat, and airborne particles during cooking. A range hood improves air quality by drawing out combustion fumes and odors, ensuring a comfortable and safe kitchen environment. A professional installation guarantees precise positioning and compliance with local safety codes.

Smooth galvanized metal ducting is the optimal choice for range hood installations because it delivers maximum airflow and durability. This material efficiently transports heat, grease, and odors out of your kitchen while meeting local building codes. Avoid flexible or corrugated ducting, which restricts airflow and compromises safety. Consulting a range hood installation professional ensures correct duct selection and installation for superior performance.

When installed and maintained correctly, a range hood is designed to last between 10 and 20 years. Regular cleaning of its exterior, interior, and filters is essential to remove grease buildup and preserve performance. Establish a disciplined maintenance routine and engage professional cleaning services to extend the unit’s lifespan and uphold optimal safety standards.
