"Golden Star Painting was a great hire. Shortly after putting the job (to re-paint a room with 3 colors, and install high-detail crown molding) out for contractors, the company contacted me, discussed the details and provided a very competitive quote. They were on time to the job site each day, took care to keep my entryway/work areas clean while there, and quickly addressed a couple of complications that came up to make sure the project looked how I envisioned it. If you’re looking for a reliable company with great prices who do high quality work, I’d recommend picking Golden Star Painting for your project. "

"John gave me a very detail quote and was supportive of me getting other quotes. When signing agreement with him he gave me a very detailed list of everything he what would do and in what order. I decided to also do my brick wall that was in bad repair and he gave me a good price by reducing his labor/hr charge. He also gave me the 15% discount for being a senior. John enclosed my eves on my back patio as part of the job. John used quality materials and even got the paint rep to come to my house to ask what to use on my brick wall. The rep ordered a special masonry primer for it. John always cleaned up well at the end of the day. He took twice as long as the other person had quoted, but spent very long hours. I am very sure that because of the many, many hours he spent preparing the houses that the paint job will last me for 25 years plus. I will always recommend him and ONLY him if anyone is looking for a painter."

"I give Brandon an average performance overall because he & his helper weren't real picky about doing an outstanding job. They missed a lot of spots of moss on the low wall and just painted right over them so I will have to go over those areas. Also, in the areas where Brandon patched the cracks, you can see the repairs through the paint. I told him I wasn't happy and he did come back and paint over the cracks again, and when I could still see the repairs, he said sometimes that's just how it is. I told him "If that's how it is, then how come I don't see repairs in other stucco buildings that have been painted?" But, at least he DID come back like I asked so I give him points for that.
Brandon's a charmer and seems eager to please (at first) but the paint job was just average. He was one of the cheapest bids, so I guess you get what you pay for.
It took him a little longer to patch/repair the wood trim and stucco than he thought it would so he did take a little longer to finish the job, but basically, he showed up when he said he would (although he DID start the job a week later than we agreed on)."

FAQs for exterior home or structure paint or stain projects in Hornitos, CA

Painting vinyl siding is a budget-friendly way to revive curb appeal without paying for new panels. As long as the boards aren’t warped, cracked, or leaking, a coat of high-quality acrylic paint can buy you another five to 10 years before replacement.

Stick to lighter shades so the siding doesn’t soak up excess heat, and prep the surface well for the paint to bond. If you’re seeing rot or moisture damage, skip the paint and plan for new siding instead.

High-quality acrylic paint is recommended for vinyl siding. Acrylic paint adheres firmly to vinyl surfaces and resists peeling and fading, providing a sleek and long-lasting finish. Ensure the siding is thoroughly cleaned and prepared for optimal results. Your exterior painting pro has the expertise to properly prepare your siding’s surface to ensure proper adhesion.

Priming is not required if the vinyl siding remains in good condition and is properly cleaned. However, if the original color is severely faded or the panels have become porous, priming becomes essential. Priming provides a smooth, even base that improves paint adhesion and enhances durability, ensuring the acrylic finish adheres properly and lasts longer.

A paint sprayer is the quickest, most consistent way to coat vinyl siding. The fine mist reaches grooves a roller can miss and lays down an even layer in a fraction of the time. You’ll still need a brush for tight corners, but a sprayer slashes labor hours and reduces lap marks.

If you’re renting equipment, ask the supplier for a tip size made for exterior acrylics so the paint atomizes correctly and sticks to the siding.

Painted vinyl siding lasts between five and 10 years. The durability depends on the quality of the surface preparation and the local climate conditions. When the siding is thoroughly cleaned and prepped, and high-quality acrylic paint is used, the finish endures longer. In hotter regions, the lifespan may be closer to five years, while cooler climates help extend it.
