"I was very pleased with the folks at A & M Upholstery. I called on 12-16-14 to describe the work I needed done and  I emailed a picture. I received a prompt call back from Felicia with a very reasonable estimate. We took our beloved grandpa's rocker in on the 17th and they were done by the 19th! I really lucked out and it was an unusually quick turnaround as they were awaiting fabric that had been ordered for other jobs. <br /> The work they did on the rocker was absolutely beautiful. I had picked a very large print and they matched the fabric expertly! I also asked if they could remake the back and remove the padded headrest and  add buttons instead of cording. They accomplished this beautifully as well. Tek and Felicia have the knowledge, the expertise and do really nice work. <br /> Another reason I was so happy I decided to take my rocker to A & M Upholstery was because I had previously taken it to another upholstery shop two weeks before Thanksgiving. The man there said "Oh Mame, I'm not going to be able to get this done by Thanksgiving", but I'll try to have it for you by the middle of December." I said that was alright, but I'd like to at least have it by Christmas. I called them on the 16th of Dec. and was told that he wouldn't be able to even start on it until after Christmas. It had sat in his shop for four weeks at that point. He was rude and abrupt over the phone with me and told me if I didn't want him to do it then I could come pick it up, which I did. I simply lucked out when I randomly called the folks at A & M. They were polite and professional and talented as well! <br />"

"He drew it and took pics of himself doing it otherwise we wouldn't believe even drew it. It looks like a photograph. We've never seen anything like it. He's amazing. He has also hand drawn pictures of my wedding and of my grand father for his funeral service."

"Ed with The Best Home Guys did an excellent and professional job and was always courteous to work with and making sure that all work was cleaned up and vacuumed everyday work was performed. Upon removal of patio door, he discovered extensive termite damage and did a superb job of removing damage and replacing all support and siding that was necessary. I am very happy with his work with installing cabinets and flooring."

"This company is amazing. Janell handled the scheduling and office tasks. She was always available and friendly. The team of workers were great. They were professional and nice. They did a super job. They took their time to do a great job. The old and new floors were continuous and you can not tell which wood is new and which is old. The price was the best after comparison shopping and the quality no one in Kansas was able to even come close. Excellent company. Period."

"I submitted a quote request online on 10/17/2015 and received the written proposal in the mail for 10/31/2015. I did not move forward with this company as a few others had responded more promptly, but wanted to pass along the pricing information to others. The proposal itself was professional & detailed, so I would use them in the future, if needed.  <br /> "Mow, edge and trim all lawn areas weekly. All walkways, curbs and streets will be machine blown to remove all grass debris." <br />"

FAQs for holiday lighting add or remove projects in Wichita, KS

If climbing ladders or handling wiring isn’t in your comfort zone, hire a pro. Look for installers who post clear per-foot or hourly rates, carry insurance, and have solid reviews. Comparing at least three quotes helps you spot fair pricing without sacrificing safety. Skipping credentials to save a few dollars can cost you far more in repairs, so pick a qualified team and enjoy a safe, eye-catching display.

Yes, booking between February and September often scores lower rates because demand is light and pros have open calendars. You might even negotiate a discount package that includes removal or storage. If the budget is tight, ask whether a handyperson or an off-season permanent-light install makes sense for your home and timeline.

Determining the number of holiday lights for your house depends on your home’s size and specific decorative vision. Your project requires 10 to 20 light strands for a basic exterior display, with 100 lights allocated for eaves and an additional 10 to 20 bulbs for each awning.

For trees and substantial shrubs, allocate five to 10 strands per unit to achieve complete and balanced illumination across your property.

Tipping isn’t mandatory, but it’s a nice way to thank your installer for a job well done. Most homeowners offer 10% to 20% of the total bill or round up to an even figure if the crew exceeds expectations. A small extra goes a long way toward showing appreciation—and may help you snag priority booking next season.

Yes, you can install holiday lights yourself if your property layout is straightforward and your electrical system is secure. Homeowners who are confident in their ability to safely handle wiring and use proper equipment can save money with a DIY approach.

However, it is crucial to test all outlets thoroughly and secure the proper ladders and safety gear before starting. Careful planning and adherence to safety guidelines are essential to protect yourself and your home while achieving an attractive display.

Start by clearing the area of loose debris, damaged shingles, and anything that could trip you up. Test outdoor outlets and, if you’re unsure, bring in an electrician. Use a sturdy extension ladder (or scaffolding for very high spots) and never work alone—having a helper steady the ladder is non-negotiable. Taking these simple steps keeps you, your roof, and your new lights safe.
