After stripping the deck there were a few more boards where some rotting was identified and Barak and his team replaced them promptly. Stain looks great and made an immediate difference. I had been contemplating if my 20 year old deck was too far gone and needed replacing... but after seeing what Barak could do with stripping the old paint off, replacing some bad boards, and staining... I'm very glad I chose to do this rather than replacement."

"We used this company for several years for snow plowing, but would never hire them again. The driver was really bad about driving up onto the lawn, but the last year was the worst. He pushed snow so far up into the yard before the ground was frozen, that he made enormous ruts in the lawn from all 4 of his truck tires that were almost impossible to fix in the spring. It required us to do extensive work hauling in dirt, tamping around the ruts, seeding, and watering. Complaints about this issue over the years were ignored, with the supervisor unwilling to come out and address the situation. It almost seemed like this past year the driver deliberately went out of his way to ruin the lawn."

"We have been Ostivig Tree Care customers since 2010. We interviewed several other companies before deciding upon Ostvig. They distinguished themselves from the others immediately. The process was well organized from start to finish with the first step being to meet with one of their extremely knowledgeable arborists. The scope of the work is evaluated and the cost is assessed. If the customer decides to proceed, a date is set and a crew is sent out to complete the work. We have been impressed by Ostvig’s professionalism both in their appearance and in their manner. They are conscientious about being on time and staying in touch if issues, such as weather, might preempt a job. The individuals that do the work of pruning, tree removal or various treatments related to insects or tree illness take pride in their work and have consistently been polite, punctual and conscientious when it comes to completing the task as promised and have carefully cleaned up after every job. When we have had questions about a job or have requested a follow up call, the response has been prompt and courteous. We would definitely recommend them."

"I never leave poor reviews, however, I was very disappointed in the lack of integrity and communication provided by 5 star lawn service. For the past seven years, we had hired another small business for annual leaf removal and continued to be a loyal customer due to the excellent service they provided. In fall 2022, we were informed that our previous company was acquired by 5 star lawn service and therefore, we transitioned our business to them. We were then assured they would fit us into their schedule. The fall came and went, and they did not show up, nor communicate with us that they were not able to make it work. Once it snowed, it was too late to contact another company. Then in May 2023, 5 star service reached back out stating they were unable to make it in the fall, and offered to come in the spring instead, to which I agreed. After the service, they sent me an invoice for twice the amount of our annual clean up stating “Price increases if a Fall Cleanup was not preformed”. They did not inform me upfront that the rate would change due to more leaves needing to being collected in the spring as they did not perform the service in fall. I attempted several times to contact them regarding the price increase, including an email the same day the first bill was issued, but rather than responding, they continued to issue me “late fees”. Once I was finally able to get ahold of them, they agreed to remove the late fees due to their lack of response, but did not apologize or take accountability for their lack of communication regarding not showing up in the fall and/or informing me upfront regarding price increases due to the acquisition and the additional leaves needing to be removed. I ended up paying the full price, but will not be using their services again."
