"Absolutely wonderful experience working with Carl's Painting. We had worked with them in the past where they did a wonderful job painting our condo. We just purchased a new home and needed the paint updated in a few areas. Patrick Carl was very warm and welcoming, and he provided great advice and a fair price for the work done. We ended up needing a second coat on most of our house and he was very good about letting us know as soon as he realized it and repricing things very fairly to cover the extra materials and labor. "I would not hire THE VILLAGE PAINTER again, nor can I recommend him to others. Despite one of the warmest autumns on record (which is an ideal time to paint exteriors), and many 50 degree (and above) days well into November, the job was left half painted/finished over winter. In fact, the owner (JOHN) attempted to bill me for the half completed job--and that's how I learned that the exterior was going to be left unfinished. At one point, one of his painters (JOHN did/does not do any painting himself) came over to paint in the early morning hours, when frost was still on the surface, and I had to tell the painter to wait until the ice and moisture had dried on the surface to be painted. He told me that he would return in the afternoon when the sun was out and temperatures were above freezing, but he never came back for the rest of that year. He left paint and supplies out of sight and unprotected behind the garage, which then resulted in the paint freezing. Additionally, when I asked them to cover windows to protect them from prepping and painting...they did not, and I needed to remind the painter several times to make sure all concrete surfaces were protected from paint drips. Some areas were caulked--but never primed--with only one finish coat going over it. I am worried that the paint warranty is now compromised, because paint was not applied according to product directions (it states 2 finish coats must be applied at the time of painting {not months between] on the label. This was a very small exterior job, and I feel that JOHN did not take it seriously enough to plan for, and/or complete the job in a timely manner. It was finally completed the following spring (with only one coat/again against product recommendations)."
