"I called them in March and explained that we already had someone who would do the initial weeding and mulching in the spring and we just needed somebody to come on a regular basis such as every two weeks during the summer and weed flower beds and trim shrubbery. Mr. Pugh said yes, they could do that and their rate was $35 an hour. He wanted to send someone out to get an initial look at my property. So we then had an appointment with a pleasant young man who arrived on time and looked over our yard, giving some helpful suggestions on care of boxwoods, etc. I made sure he understood that we already had someone lined up to do the initial weeding and mulching, but I said he could give a price for that also in case our regular man didn't show up. Upon leaving, he said I would receive an email with their prices. I received their email, which listed what I thought was a high price for the initial cleanup and some one-time services, and then quoted an hourly rate of $40 for regular maintenance plus travel time. I called again and spoke with Mr. Pugh, reminding him that he had quoted $35 an hour in our earlier phone call. He said okay, if that's what he said before, then he'll charge me $35 an hour and no travel time since they're close by. Then he said actually, after thinking about it, coming every two weeks is probably not a good fit for them. He said they like to do the whole nine yards including the initial work and then come every week for a monthly fee. I reminded him that I had made it very clear in our first phone call what I wanted, and he apologized and said he didn't think it through at first. So both he and his representative were pleasant, but this whole thing amounted to a good chunk of my time wasted, between phone calls and the appointment with his representative. I chose not to rate them with a "D" because I sense that they might in fact be good to work with if one's needs match what they want to do. I just wish Mr. Pugh had "thought it through" before putting us through all of this."

"I hired Warren for yard cleanup and we agreed on a price of $1,500 to remove all the leaves and remove the tree branches i cut in my backyard. However, after starting the job, Warren claimed there was more work than expected and asked for additional payment. This was disappointing, as we had already agreed on the scope and the price. If the job was underestimated, that should not be my responsibility. Furthermore, instead of removing the leaves as discussed, they were just mulched and left in the yard — which was not what we agreed upon. When a price and scope are agreed on in advance, the expectation is that the contractor completes the work as promised, not change the terms midway. Not recommended!"

You have a few options once the leaves are in piles. Ask your crew to bag them for curbside yard-waste pickup, drop them at a local compost center, or donate them if a community garden will take them.
Prefer the DIY route? Load the bags into your trailer and haul them to the nearest waste facility. Any of these choices keep your yard clear and handle the leaves in an eco-friendly way.
Yes, you should remove the majority of leaves from your yard. A light leaf layer breaks down and feeds the soil, but thick mats smother grass, trap moisture, and invite mold and pests. If your trees drop a lot of foliage, aim for two or more cleanups each fall to keep your lawn healthy and looking sharp.
For speed and minimal strain, blow leaves into tidy piles, then bag them for pickup or composting. A blower covers big areas quickly and spares delicate garden beds. If you want the job finished even faster—or you’d rather skip the heavy lifting—hire a pro to handle the blowing and bagging in one visit.
