"There's not much to say. John plowed the driveway effectively all winter. Much better than my previous guy who charged exactly the same. I think John came out about 20 times this year, so it worked out to about $20 a plow. Really reasonable in my opinion. I never had to call him or ask him to come out, he came out on his own every time. He also planted stakes on the driveway.
AND - it looks like the "plow damage" on the grass is much less this year than my previous guy. So, thats a plus. Hard to avoid it with the way my driveway is, but I'll appreciate not planting as much seed this spring to regrow in that area.
"

"We were pretty happy with Hadleys in the early days, and that changed as the company got bigger. I didn't come to Angie's list today to leave a review on Hadleys, but based on our address Angie's list solicited a review, and I have used the company, so I thought I would provide my thoughts.
Hadley's moved their office into our neighborhood several years ago. We contracted them to cut our grass and initially they did a great job and at a great price. A year or so into our relationship they increased their mowing cost by 15%, and although I wasn't happy, I decided to continue on with them. Then last year they increased their rates by another 67%. Their new mowing rate was effectively double what we started at with them. They did a good job cutting the grass, but it wasn't worth the huge premium they were charging, so we ultimately dropped them and went with a competitor. Overall I would give the quality of their mowing an and quot;Aand quot; and their rates a and quot;Cand quot;.
A few years ago we contracted Hadleys to plant 10 trees in our yard. They drew up a plan and we agreed on a price. When I came home that afternoon, half of the trees had been planted - but in the wrong spot. They were in the correct general area, but the workers definitely did not follow the plans that were drawn up. They apologized, and I agreed to keep the 5 trees where they were, and they placed the remaining 5 trees correctly.
My biggest issue with that project was the trees themselves. 3-4 of them were and quot;bentand quot; and growing at an angle. I complained and Mr. Hadley came out to the house to look at the trees, and he said that it was natural, because they grow the trees on a side of a hill to save space, and that once they are planted in our yard the trees will eventually and quot;straighten outand quot;. Here we are a few years later, and while some of the trees have moved closer to being straight, the trunks on some of them are still bent. For the planting services I would give them a and quot;Cand quot;, with the quality being a and quot;Dand quot;.
Our last encounter with Hadleys was the and quot;master planand quot;. We spent about an hour in the office with the owner and he showed us all of these various ideas he had that could be used in our yard. He said that he was going to draw up an elaborate and quot;master planand quot; that we could implement in phases over the next few years. He had us very excited in his office for the work they could do, and then we never heard from them again. No and quot;master planand quot; was ever presented.
Although these strikes were enough for us to take our mowing/planting/and landscaping business needs to competitors, we were happy with their mowing service, and their lawn treatment service, and we have seen photos of large jobs they have done that have gone quite well. Perhaps we were too small of a customer to get better service. If you have a very large job, you may want to give them a try and learn more for yourself.

"

"I finally broke down and hired a professional to take care of my lawn. We had a lot of weeds, more crab grass then grass, on top of that we were got a pool so our entire back yard was turned into dirt. Almost from day one I discovered that this company had a terrible communication problem. You can't call the local office in Syracuse direct, you have to call the main 1800 office in some other state. Shortly after signing the contract I called the 1800 office and request that they treat the weeds before they did the aeration and seed, they assured me that they would reschedule the aeration and take care of the weeds first. So much to surprise and displeasure when I returned home from work one day to find that the lawn had been aerated/seeded and they failed to treat the weeds. When I called the 1800 they apologized for the mistake, but at this point they couldn't spray the weeds because they just laid the seed down. This miscommunication continued throughout the summer, they would show up unannounced, put down fertilizer when I asked to weed killer... The local office to there credit would always listen to me vent, apologize and try to make things right. Skip our techician was outstanding, this guy really cared what my lawn looked like, he always took the time to explain to my wife what he was doing, i wish I could of just hired him. I spent a lot of money so I didn't have to take care of my lawn last summer. Unfortunate I spent a lot time on the phone trying to make someone make my lawn look better. Bottom line, go with someone local or due it yourself, you'll save yourself a lot of time and aggravation.
"

"We were introduced to FM PRO Laws with a postcard mailer they sent out. We have tried other landscapers over the years--from small businesses, to kids with ambitions, to larger outfits and have not been really satisfied so we gave them a call. We wanted someone skilled and experienced who would understand what we wanted. The property is owned by a family member now in assisted living with gardens that had been neglected over several years. Weeds had taken over and the tress and shrubs were full of dead wood. Everywhere you looked the place needed help. Josh walked the property with us and it was clear that he understood the issues and what need to be done. He gave us a fair price--not cheap, but fair--and we got started. His hard-working team was a mix of very experienced and younger guys. The process took many days to complete but in the end it looked amazing!
A few things we especially appreciated:
They answer phone calls and email promptly. (Why is this so rare!)

They follow through on promises. When they say they will continue to work on something over the next few weeks, they do it.

They clean up after themselves and haul away all debris.

They are detail-oriented and do the small stuff that makes a difference.

They manage their crews well--they are respectful of their staff and the staff in turn is respectful of customers. They work hard when they are on the job.

They problem-solve well. If something is not quite going as planned, they figure it out and keep you informed. They don't disappear!

We've been very pleased with the results and continue to use FM PRO Lawns for weekly mowing. They are a Cazenovia-based company (Caz Lawn Care I think) growing out into the Fayetteville Manlius area. There are lots of companies out there doing yard work, so many to choose from. We'd recommend FM PRO Lawns without hesitation.

"
