Small jobs welcome

"Robert was the first to respond when I went on Angie’s List. I just moved here from Florida and bought a home here. We discussed what I needed and he gave me a fair quote. Robert and Shaine came and did what they promised and then some! I kept adding more to my list. Fair pricing for work completed! Very happy with their work and will continue to call on them when I need things done around the house. Thank you guys for a great job well-done! Robert communicated well and came when he said he would and stayed longer than I expected and did a great job. Very impressed with this experience. Hung 3 TVs on brackets, moved sensor on garage door, removed my mantel to make room for me to put on in a fireplace below my tv, and put a blanket on my water heater. Here is a pic of my dining room light they hung for me. I LOVE it! Thanks guys! Sorry for the messiness, still unpacking."

"Jenny has been to my house twice. We have sifted through and organized <br /> my morrific basement filled with years of things from four kids. In my <br /> bedroom, we went through 20 boxes of "stuff" that have been needing to <br /> be put away. Next, we are going to tackle my boys' bedroom. <br /> I love Jenny and have been recommending her to everyone! <br />"

"I was told by one company (a much larger company with high visibility in this area) that my downstairs furnace was rusted and was posing a safety hazard. Customer First Heating and Cooling inspected the same furnace and indicated that other than some rust, probably from the air conditioning coil, the furnace was perfectly safe. I was prepared to buy a new furnace, but based upon Customer First's advice I can avoid that expense. The Customer First representative told me that whenever they discover an unsafe furnace, they turn the furnace off and make a notation on the customer receipt. If the customer turns the furnace back on, it is at the customer's risk. It was extremely refreshing to deal with a company that is honest and straightforward. When the time comes for me to buy a new furnace I will definitely buy it from Customer First Heating and Cooling."

"OLP has been a pleasure to work with from the first time I contacted them through the installation of new fixtures. Both Billy and Chris at OLP of Greenville are fantastic. They listened to our ideas, goals and objectives and made good recommendations. They were responsive, timely and respectful. As a result, the end result was a well executed project and a very happy customer. In fact, after they completed the first installation I contacted them again about adding additional lights. While the cost is certainly more than what you would pay if you did the job yourself or purchased lighting through a big box store, the difference in quality  of fixtures is unmatched. Moreover, having someone who know how to install them properly and with a keen eye for how outdoor lighting can be used to enhance the appearance of your landscape is well worth the the extra money.I highly recommend OLP of Greenville and will certainly use them to maintain all of my outdoor lighting as well as install any new fixtures in the future. <br />"

FAQs for holiday lighting add or remove projects in Asheville, NC

If climbing ladders or handling wiring isn’t in your comfort zone, hire a pro. Look for installers who post clear per-foot or hourly rates, carry insurance, and have solid reviews. Comparing at least three quotes helps you spot fair pricing without sacrificing safety. Skipping credentials to save a few dollars can cost you far more in repairs, so pick a qualified team and enjoy a safe, eye-catching display.

Yes, booking between February and September often scores lower rates because demand is light and pros have open calendars. You might even negotiate a discount package that includes removal or storage. If the budget is tight, ask whether a handyperson or an off-season permanent-light install makes sense for your home and timeline.

Determining the number of holiday lights for your house depends on your home’s size and specific decorative vision. Your project requires 10 to 20 light strands for a basic exterior display, with 100 lights allocated for eaves and an additional 10 to 20 bulbs for each awning.

For trees and substantial shrubs, allocate five to 10 strands per unit to achieve complete and balanced illumination across your property.

Tipping isn’t mandatory, but it’s a nice way to thank your installer for a job well done. Most homeowners offer 10% to 20% of the total bill or round up to an even figure if the crew exceeds expectations. A small extra goes a long way toward showing appreciation—and may help you snag priority booking next season.

Yes, you can install holiday lights yourself if your property layout is straightforward and your electrical system is secure. Homeowners who are confident in their ability to safely handle wiring and use proper equipment can save money with a DIY approach.

However, it is crucial to test all outlets thoroughly and secure the proper ladders and safety gear before starting. Careful planning and adherence to safety guidelines are essential to protect yourself and your home while achieving an attractive display.

Start by clearing the area of loose debris, damaged shingles, and anything that could trip you up. Test outdoor outlets and, if you’re unsure, bring in an electrician. Use a sturdy extension ladder (or scaffolding for very high spots) and never work alone—having a helper steady the ladder is non-negotiable. Taking these simple steps keeps you, your roof, and your new lights safe.
