"I called John last week in May and responded quickly and came out May 31 to give us not only a quote but assessed our watering needs.  Asked about how much I knew about lawn and drip irrigation and explained the benefits of drip for the garden and for conservation of water.  He tested the water pressure, and told us that there would have to be a couple of control boxes in the ground and some digging but the crew would do their best to replace the grass and mulch as best they could and I understood this as we had been through landscape work before.  I said no problem. <br /> I wanted coverage for my lawn and my plantings.  Especially with the dry we have had the last few years.  I struggle just to keep my plants looking great.  Much of the time I will let my grass go dormant.  John said after the installation of the system you will have great looking lawn in about a months time.  Probably have to mow it too often.  I did not think that would be possible.  I would be happy to get the lawn root system going again and my plants on a watering schedule. <br /> I waited a month due to a surgery but we decided we wanted to schedule it for sometime in July.  I called John after July 4 and asked if I could get in the schedule for July sometime.  He said that with all the rain in June, he would try to get us in late July, but we may get pushed out if we get rain.  His crew had been working 7 days a week just to catch up.  Just like he thought we did get pushed but one of the weeks I could not do it, but he and his crew does his best to work their best to work with your schedule. "I initially corresponded with Weed Man through Angie's List. They were extremely professional and delivered a personalized quote for me all via email. When I called to set up the service the person I spoke with was extremely polite, knowledgeable, and respectful. I received an email the day before they were going to come out for my fertilization and then for the weed treatment. There were some weeds that remained after the first treatment so I sent them a message and they came back out within 2 days to spot treat the weeds at no extra charge. The yard looks great! I definitely recommend and will stay with them next year myself."

"I requested a quote from Lawn By The Yard for fall yard work and winter snow plowing. After a few days, I got a two sentence response. The first apologized for the delay in response, so they get bonus points for courteousness and professionalism there. The second stated that they could not perform that work because my property is outside of their work zone. What the heck? My address is in the same city that their work address listed on Angie's List (St. Paul) and I'm certainly in Ramsey County, which their description on Angie's List leads the reader to believe they service in totality. I found this particularly annoying because I try to pay attention to services offered and areas serviced so I'm not going on a snipe hunt. Just to make sure that I didn't miss anything, I re-read their Angie's List info and website to be sure that I wasn't errant in my reading. Nope. So either the information on their site is just plain wrong or they didn't want to do the work for whatever reason. I would suggest they update their site or state that they aren't taking on new jobs or whatever, as the case may be. Either way, something needs to change over at Lawn By The Yard so I don't waste my time and theirs on soliciting work that they won't do. <br />"
