Customers say: Quick response

"I hired William and his team to weed mulch and clean up my flower beds, and weed and feed my lawn. The price was high, but I thought the quality would be worth it. After the work was done, I thought the job was well done, however, I found that there was weed killer sprayed on the grass, but the lawn was never seeded which created large brown spots on the lawn, the beds were not weeded, only mulch placed over the weeds, which grew through the next week. The weed killer was sprayed on my neighbors rose bush and killed it. When I reached out to William, he ignored my requests to address the problem."

"Jim was very responsive to our needs and listened carefully as we described how the run-off flowed down the poorly graded hill into our septic system and patio.  He provided a very fair proposal, always arrived on time, provided multiple updates on the progress and did a very through and good job.  Although the weather was very challenging, Jim worked through very limited windows of opportunity to complete the job quickly and efficiently.  During the installation, it rained/snowed three times including a 2-4" downpour that left our backyard soaked (exacerbated by poor grading/drainage).  Jim's equipment left significant ruts along the drainage trench as he completed the trench and filled with gravel, filter fabric and pipe installation.  Riggs Landscaping did a fantastic job of repairing the ruts through backfill, grading and grass re-seeding.  I was very satisfied with Riggs Landscaping quality of workmanship, customer service and professional competence.  I would highly recommend Riggs Landscaping and will work with them in the future for other landscaping projects. <br />"

"They appear to be dependable. They're here every week and they show up with 2 big lawn mowers. They're here for about 10 minutes, it's a miracle how they finish the job quickly. I don't have any complaints from them. The pricing is reasonable compared to other companies. I just call them when the grass needs mowing and they give me a time for them to come. They show up when they want to show up and leave when they want to leave. You see the guys passing by and they smile and wave at you."

FAQs for lawn care aeration projects in Taneytown, MD

Aeration is the best way to keep your lawn healthy and vibrant. Annual aeration makes your lawn more breathable and helps nutrients reach the roots, improving water absorption and reducing puddles where pests might breed. However, timing matters. It's best to avoid aerating during droughts, extreme heat, or if your lawn is battling weeds. A local pro can help you determine the ideal time for your yard.

Most lawns benefit from annual aeration to keep them healthy and thriving. If your lawn has a lot of thatch buildup—more than half an inch—you might need to aerate twice a year for a couple of years to get it under control. But if your soil isn't compacted and there's minimal thatch, you might be able to skip a year.

When you hire a professional lawn care company, a standard 10,000-square-foot lawn takes about 30 minutes to aerate. Uneven, sloped, or especially large lawns can take significantly more time. So, depending on your lawn's size and condition, the process can take anywhere from half an hour to several hours.

The best time to aerate your lawn is during the spring or fall when your grass is actively growing and the soil has enough moisture. Aerating once in the spring and once in the fall yields the best results. Avoid aerating when your lawn is dormant or right after heavy rain when the soil is too wet—that can make aeration less effective.

Even if your lawn looks healthy, aeration can still be beneficial. If you have good growth, proper drainage, and little thatch, you might not need to aerate right away. Regular aeration helps water and nutrients reach the roots, keeping your lawn strong over time. Keep an eye on your lawn's condition to decide when it might need aeration.
