"It went great, Kevin is extremely punctual and did a fantastic job on our house. He even installed new lights and wasn't going to charge me any extra. I am extremely picky, and work hard for my money, and I would strongly recommend Ultra Nice Painting to anyone looking for a painter! A+++"

"They did a conscientious job.  We have many decks and deck railings. We had a new roof put on last year and were concerned about paint getting dripped or sprayed onto our new shingles or our outdoor decking's indoor/outdoor carpeting.  They did a very neat job.  We are very pleased with the results.  The onsite supervisor was a very hard working person that was very amenable to any requests we had.  We would hire them again. <br />"

"We did not use Restoration Painting for our exterior painting project because his estimate was $2100-$3500 higher than the other estimates we recieved (4 total estimates) . The cost difference could not be explained by the preparation of the house, number of coats, painting technique (spray and back rolled each coat) , quality of paint or primer used or the incidental repairs we discussed. We liked Steve, but just couldn't use him for that cost when there were other painters offering a similiar quality service for less. <br /> I had a conversation with another highly recommended local painter who was familiar with my house and he said a house my size and condition is typically in the +/-$6000 range. I would have hired that guy, but he didn't respond to my phone message requesting an estimate (he had accidently deleted the message and realized it later when he was cleaning out the deleted messages on his phone, which is when he called me to apoloigize for not responding to my message). <br /> I suppose we should have called Steve and asked him to clarify why his estimate was so high. Maybe he would have revised it or given a good explanation about what he was offering that was worh that much more money. Somehow I think he is charging more based on his reputation, but I can't afford to pay that much extra money just for a name. <br /> The painter I did hire was competent (although a little bit of a a stress queen and difficult to deal with personality). Now my house has a good coat of paint on it that will protect it and last for several years. <br />"

"House prep was very good. Attention to protection of decks, etc. was OK but some overspray on decks. Paint application was very good. Need to monitor workers on details. Overall project was good but paint products used were of lower quality than expected. Must get all details of planned work/materials in writing. Do not rely on discussions. Warranty given by company on project is longer than manufacturers warranty on products used. May create problems if warranty issues develop but company could resolve/mitigate. Overall good experience but just need to get all details/understandings in writing up front. Pricing for work is mid range for comparable work by others."

FAQs for exterior home or structure paint or stain projects in Willow, AK

Painting vinyl siding is a budget-friendly way to revive curb appeal without paying for new panels. As long as the boards aren’t warped, cracked, or leaking, a coat of high-quality acrylic paint can buy you another five to 10 years before replacement.

Stick to lighter shades so the siding doesn’t soak up excess heat, and prep the surface well for the paint to bond. If you’re seeing rot or moisture damage, skip the paint and plan for new siding instead.

High-quality acrylic paint is recommended for vinyl siding. Acrylic paint adheres firmly to vinyl surfaces and resists peeling and fading, providing a sleek and long-lasting finish. Ensure the siding is thoroughly cleaned and prepared for optimal results. Your exterior painting pro has the expertise to properly prepare your siding’s surface to ensure proper adhesion.

Priming is not required if the vinyl siding remains in good condition and is properly cleaned. However, if the original color is severely faded or the panels have become porous, priming becomes essential. Priming provides a smooth, even base that improves paint adhesion and enhances durability, ensuring the acrylic finish adheres properly and lasts longer.

A paint sprayer is the quickest, most consistent way to coat vinyl siding. The fine mist reaches grooves a roller can miss and lays down an even layer in a fraction of the time. You’ll still need a brush for tight corners, but a sprayer slashes labor hours and reduces lap marks.

If you’re renting equipment, ask the supplier for a tip size made for exterior acrylics so the paint atomizes correctly and sticks to the siding.

Painted vinyl siding lasts between five and 10 years. The durability depends on the quality of the surface preparation and the local climate conditions. When the siding is thoroughly cleaned and prepped, and high-quality acrylic paint is used, the finish endures longer. In hotter regions, the lifespan may be closer to five years, while cooler climates help extend it.
