Small jobs welcome

"Iâ m very happy we hired â By The Yards Landscapingâ to start the process of restoring our lawn. Roger and his crew brought all the professional landscaping equipment to prepare and seed my lawn and now my lawn has started the process of growing new grass. They were very professional in their work and highly informative in recommending the steps I should take to start the germination process and maintain my lawn. Thanks Roger. I highly recommend â By The Yards Landscaping.â"

"José and his crew did a great job! They did all I asked for, and my yard is just so much better. A great job trimming the shrubs and cleaning out the flower beds! They were even able to mow and edge my very wet and overgrown lawn. I will have them come back in the fall to help ‘winterize’."

"Personable. Efficient. Reasonably priced. Full service Lawn care goes well beyond just cutting the lawn. I would want 3 Warriors to look into and repair some lawn problems I am having. I think they could do a better job than the lawn service I have used prior to being introduced to 3 Warriors. I will make that decision after I personally make an attempt to now repair my lawn myself. 3 Warriors also comes with a surprise asset. One of the Warriors is a skilled female who also does regular and deep clean housekeeping should you need it!"

"Our yard cleanup was a HUGE job. They showed up on time to give us an estimate on a Monday and scheduled the job on Wednesday. They completed the job that day and when they were finished the yard looked great. Weâ ve hired them to come once a month for yard maintenance too."

"Cliff responded very quickly to the referral and provided a timely response. Think this would be a very good company to hire for site preparation but price a bit high for what I needed, ie blackberry, weeds and grass removal."

FAQs for lawn care aeration projects in Olympia, WA

Aeration is the best way to keep your lawn healthy and vibrant. Annual aeration makes your lawn more breathable and helps nutrients reach the roots, improving water absorption and reducing puddles where pests might breed. However, timing matters. It's best to avoid aerating during droughts, extreme heat, or if your lawn is battling weeds. A local pro can help you determine the ideal time for your yard.

Most lawns benefit from annual aeration to keep them healthy and thriving. If your lawn has a lot of thatch buildup—more than half an inch—you might need to aerate twice a year for a couple of years to get it under control. But if your soil isn't compacted and there's minimal thatch, you might be able to skip a year.

When you hire a professional lawn care company, a standard 10,000-square-foot lawn takes about 30 minutes to aerate. Uneven, sloped, or especially large lawns can take significantly more time. So, depending on your lawn's size and condition, the process can take anywhere from half an hour to several hours.

The best time to aerate your lawn is during the spring or fall when your grass is actively growing and the soil has enough moisture. Aerating once in the spring and once in the fall yields the best results. Avoid aerating when your lawn is dormant or right after heavy rain when the soil is too wet—that can make aeration less effective.

Even if your lawn looks healthy, aeration can still be beneficial. If you have good growth, proper drainage, and little thatch, you might not need to aerate right away. Regular aeration helps water and nutrients reach the roots, keeping your lawn strong over time. Keep an eye on your lawn's condition to decide when it might need aeration.
