My yard is somewhat difficult to work in because I have a natural garden instead of a lawn, plus drip irrigation lines scattered here and there and they cheerfully manage to work around all that carefully without damaging anything). <br /> David comes with a well trained crew of two, plus first class equipment (including huge shredder truck), everything is first class. "It was such a pleasure to work with this company. We will definitely be sure to recommend them at every chance we get. We just moved into a home that had a wreck of a backyard, just weeds, dirt, and gopher holes. Including Landscape Locators, we had three landscapers bid the project. First, I spoke with Kevin over the phone. He explained the two sides of their business, asked what we were looking for, and then recommended which side made the most sense based on what our needs and budget were. The first side of their business is to list out the project and solicit bids from several of the over 40 landscape and hardscape contractors they have a relationship with and have fully vetted. This way you don't have to solicit all the contractors yourself. The second side of their business, and the one in which was recommended to us and we therefore used, was to have the landscape and hardscape done by them. Once Kevin told us this is likely the avenue we would take, he had his business partner, Andrew, come out to our house to assess the backyard. Andrew was at our house within a few days and again took the time to explain the business models of the company. He was sure to actually provide recommendations on the backyard style and plants to use (something we did not get from other companies). I appreciated that because I don't believe to know everything about your business, just as you don't know everything about what I do. Recommendations are always welcomed and appreciated. Since Andrew agreed that this was a project for their company to do, he set up an appointment for Jesse to come to the house. Jesse was there within a few days, took measurements, and provided additional recommendations. At no point during Andrew's nor Jesse's meetings did we feel oversold to or pushed by them. They were helpful, answered our questions, and got back to us later if we had additional questions. Within a few more days, we had a bid on the project based on Jesse's measurements and our rough plan. We then scheduled the project out for their next available time, which was three weeks later. In the week before, I spoke with Jesse several times about the products we were going to purchase, where we could go look at pavers, and other questions I had. Jesse and his team worked from early morning until about 5pm for six days straight. They cleaned up after themselves at the end of every day. They were courteous, hard working, and very professional. Once done, Jesse walked us through everything that was planted, the mechanics of the sprinkler system, and the timeline for actually getting to use our new grass. We could not be more thrilled with the process from beginning to end. We felt that Andrew and Jesse were always there to answer our questions and follow through on their promises. Definitely get a quote from them if you need a project done."

"I initially called for an irrigation estimate. Pedro/Peter was on time for our first appointment and was professional, polite, and pleasant. While discussing what I needed for the irrigation project, he noticed an overly wet spot in the lawn. He correctly identified the problem as a leak in the main line and, although he said it was probably going to be on my side and my responsibility to repair rather DWP's, he advised me to first contact them anyway to confirm before paying him to start working on it. That engendered a feeling of trust that he wasn't trying to rip me off. Plus I immediately knew he was correct because my tenant had complained of unusually high water bills. He and his brother Frank came the next day and fixed the problem at a very reasonable fee. They worked efficiently and quickly and cleaned up nicely afterwards. They installed my irrigation system satisfactorily and planted plants for me that I purchased from a great nursery recommended by Peter. Also, I had wanted sod but Peter advised me to just aerate the existing lawn (which was very beaten up by the previous tenant), fertilize and reseed in order to stay within my budget. Turns out he was right and my lawn has greened up nicely. Peter and Frank are just plain nice guys and good human beings as well as reliable and trustworthy. I am still an ongoing customer as they now take care of my lawn on their gardening route. I would highly recommend them to anyone."

"Great Job for the Money!!! I called about 10 landscapers and chose 3 to come out to my yard for bids. SB Landscaping came out and gave me the lowest bid and seemed the most professional. They dug holed and added sprinkler, valves, piping, timer , about 3 cubic yards of dirt, some?fertilizer?to my front and side yard. they then seeded my side yard and put sod in my front yard. They added two double king Palms all for about $2000!!! They had a crew of about 5 and got the job done in two days.?"

"Kathy is great and we really wanted to work with her.  Unfortunately she quoted us a $1500 design fee less $200 for being an Angie's member.  I had trouble with this price since everything else on Angie's indicates she has a design fee of $500 or $380.  When I asked why the price was so high I was told it was the scope of the project.  We were willing to invest in a low five figure project, but I felt if the design quote was coming in that high that we were going to run out of budget quickly.  I asked if we could do the following instead: <br /> "$800 for the design ($1000 discounted $200 for Angie's list), and a $500 non-refundable deposit on work to be done.  If for whatever reason we don't move forward with you guys you keep the $500, but if as planned we do go forward that $500 goes against the cost of the work done.  So $1300 would still be paid at this time." <br /> They turned down this proposal.  So unfortunately we didn't do any work together. <br /> <br />"

I did a lot of research and picked Janus for the following: These people are longtime professionals and know their stuff... what to use, how much, etc. Personal service: I get a real person on the phone if needed to switch times or ask a question. Responsible: they call me the day before they're coming and they show up when they say they will. Mark has been my rep and from the moment he shows up in his meticulous truck and gives you advice about your property, I'm sure you'll feel like I did that any pest problems you have will be addressed and resolved."

"They put down fertilizers and weed killer.  They also suggest other treatments that we have not done like pulling plugs out of the lawn area, I don’t see any reason for that.  Plugging actually gives more space for water to go in and for the fertilizer to go in and thins the lawn out.  But I don’t see any reason for doing that since the lawn looks fabulous as it is.  If we have any problems with more weeds coming out they will come out again.  I have any one to compare them with because we have not used anyone else no matter which house we lived in.  They come on their schedule.  I would use them in the future."

Placed safety cones on street around parked truck. Moved truck when neighbors needed access to street and/or driveway.  Gave care directions for newly planted tree. <br />"
