"Lately, our roof had been showing stain and moss all over the surface. In addition, after windy rainstorms, we were finding water stains on our interior walls and ceilings as well as various shingle pieces throughout our yard. So, along with my husband, David, I began to do research on companies that replace roofs on residential houses. As part of this process, we talked to our friend Tina Delatina Rosa who is the Quality Assurance, Marketing and Events Coordinator for Solid State Construction. This led to Tina and Rob Blanchflower, a Project Consultant for Solid State, visiting our home on January 17 to assess our needs. With absolutely no pressure but lots and lots of professionalism and competence, Tina and Rob studied our roofing structure both inside and outside, including a tough to get into and out (for former NFL tight end Rob) assessment of our attic space. In a relaxed presentation around the dining room table, Rob told us who Solid State Construction and their product supplier, GAF, are. Everything was clearly explained; from old roof removal to installation of new underlayment and ventilation systems and finally of the GAF shingle product. GAF guarantees this product for 50 years if it is installed complying with GAFâ  s strict standards and, of course, Solid State Construction is a certified GAF installer. The price was actually higher than some of the other options we looked at, but the comprehensiveness of Robâ  s presentation and the absolute pride he exuded while describing the merits of Solid State and GAF convinced David and me that this is the way to go. On Saturday, March 21, Tina along with Solid State Construction Assistant Project Manager, Nick Keegan, showed up early in the morning with eight workers. Watching these men during the day I realized just how well trained and experienced a crew Nick was overseeing. Of immediate note to me was that right from the beginning at least one worker was assigned to clean up. No having a giant heap of a mess to clean up at the end of the day when everyone is tired and wants to go home. Along the way and after removing the old roof, previously unseen problems appeared. This required replacement of rotted structural boards and cross members which Nick had his men do without looking to nickel and dime us in the process. A good-sized portion of our roof covers a family room that we added to the house years ago. It was covered with regular shingles, but Nick advised me that a far superior covering because of the pitch of the roof would be rubber. So, right there while actually carrying out the work activity, a significant change in scope was made with no increase in cost or time to complete the project. At the end of the day, with only a few minor items that were taken care of the next morning, the project was done and everything was cleaned up. The quality of the final product fully reflects the expertise and professional workmanship of Nick Keegan and his extremely hard-working project team. Two of our neighbors spent years in the construction trades and they came over to tell David this is complete quality and professional job. One, usually skeptical, said, â  Dave, when they told you to put rubber rather than regular shingles over the family room, thatâ  s when I knew these guys knew what they were doing.â  We couldnâ  t say it better. We are totally pleased and satisfied with our roof replacement provided by Solid State Construction and its product supplier GAF. We very strongly recommend them. Oh, of course, we had some questions after everybody left. No problem, David just called Nick Keegan who responded right away."

"Sovereign Painting patched, filled, plastered and painted two rooms plus hallways, entranceways, and foyer in my home. The rooms were very difficult and had not ben painted in 30 years. They included a high cathedral ceiling and walls that needed plastering and baseboard heating. They exceeded my expectations in every way and especially the quality of their work and their attention for small detail. They plastered holes, covered cracks with tape and used the latest technology for water stains. They followed best practices and did not cut corners. They delivered two needed coats while others only quoted one. They fixed, patched and painted railing that I did not think could be saved. They were extremely professional. I was so impressed that I asked then to return and paint the rest of the house. These are the real pro's and were very competitively priced. "We hired Maize Restoration for their comprehensive project evaluation (CPE) This is in advance of the actual renovation project and this review is specific to their CPE. We liked the idea of first engaging Maize restoration to scope the project throughly before committing to using them for the actual renovation. The process involved a few on site meetings (at our house) and several hours of detailed information gathering by Chase, Maize's president. We were pleased with the result of a couple of lifelike 'photos' of the completed bathroom and a roadmap of how we'd proceed. Chase "got it." Based on this, we have engaged Maize for the remodeling and we look forward to working with them on that project. Chase had come highly recommended by a couple of colleagues. We have interviewed a number of contractors for the project and we found that Maize's CPE gave us the confidence that they understood what we needed and would be good to work with. "Mike is the best contractor we have had the opportunity to work with. We were skeptical at first because most other contractors we have worked with over promise and under perform, as well as do not return phone calls / emails. Not Mike. For our kitchen project, he went out of his way to insure every piece of the project was finished and passed his own QC (which in many cases was more stringent than our own QC). He came up with a few ideas that really made the project shine (like the addition of an archway to separate two ceiling heights). Mike also was not afraid to express his opinion based on his experiences and this saved us a lot of time and money. Mike always told you what he was doing, when it would be done and what the next day consisted of so you could prepare yourself. His helper (also named Mike), is also a professional. Care was taken to insure proper set up and take down of anything needing to be installed. Each day, the job site would be cleaned to make the rest of the house more livable during construction. "This company is amazing! We had walkways installed by another contractor who left us with major pitch and water drainage issues who refused to come back and look/resolve. As soon as I put in request on homeadvisor Nick called me literally like 2 minutes after. Alcir came out and accessed the problems the same day-we met with several other contractors, some wanted to go way overboard to fix and some not enoughm Alcir seemed lie the perfect balance, made us comfortable with how the work would get done, and was willing to do when others are not willing to fix someone elses work. Also very fair and affordable price. They really went above and beyond to help, coming earlier then they originally planned so we could get drain in before major rain storm. I was at ease the entire time his team was here-Sandro made me very comfortable after all we had been threw with 2 other lousy contractors and the job from hell. Super polite an nice, he and his team were super hard workers, kept everything neat and clean and took their time to be careful with the existing pavers. I was so worried about tearing everything up but they made it easy and painless. After the rain we had a slight problem in one spot and they came right back out the next morning and even helped fix other problem area while here. Can't say enough great things about this company, looking forward to having them back in the spring to clean and seal the stones forus. Would recommend in a heart beat."
