"We just completed a project with IDEL and I I would characterize my feeling as very satisfied. It all started when I posted a request for a custom cabinet/bookshelf builder on Angi and IDEL responded promptly. From the very beginning, they were very reliable and sensitive to my needs. I had a unique situation whereby I needed two custom bookcases built into an existing space. Dennise contacted me and scheduled a visit immediately. The IDEL designer (Edward), came out and was very professional. He took all of the measurements and, within a short period of time, presented me with a CAD design prototype view. At every step of the project, they kept me informed. They were very diligent in making sure they were building exactly what I requested. They called me to their shop to view the progress of the product on two occasions. They met every milestone to my satisfaction. The installation crew were very skilled and experienced. To be perfectly candid, I saw a few of the negative reviews about IDEL. I ignored them and decided to give IDEL a chance and I am glad I did. I strongly recommend them for any projects of this nature, and I will avail myself to anyone who would like to confirm this information with me directly."

" Hired them to do a cabinet refacing. The first person they sent had no idea what he was doing- wrong screws, did not hang anything level , everything had to be redone because the cabinets would not open properly. They had to come and repaint twice, we found cracks, wrong hardware, wrong screws and a plethora of other problems. At this point I am trying to get the ownership of the company to stand behind the work I have paid for, and have reached out to Homeadvisor for assistance with this issue. "

"This is not the company to use if you are looking for decent cabinetry work. They are the textbook example of overpromising and underdelivering. Previous ratings are high. However, ownership recently changed from Henry to Denise, workmanship, and service have gone downhill. As part of a kitchen remodel, we were mostly looking for 2 drawer modifications, a small bookcase, 2 very simple shelving units, 2 additional drawers, and soft-close hinges everywhere. We ran into many issues. To name a few: the master designer is unaware of the City Code; poor communication between the designer and the installer; the installer either does not show up or was several hours late; our rather small job required 10 visits over the course of 8 weeks requiring us to reschedule the fabricator multiple times; measurements were wrong and the work had to be redone multiple times; nails were sticking out, leaving the wood of the shelves chipped; the 4 new drawer fronts did not match the existing kitchen cabinets, both in design as well as material (they actually tried to get away with wood substitutions, using maple and MDF instead of oak); the invoice amounts were wrong. We ended up project managing and tracking in detail what was still outstanding while keeping in touch via email. Most emails included the owner Denise, who not once reached out to help move the project along and to apologize for all the delays and the poor workmanship. We had considered hiring them to also do the countertop and the cabinet refinishing work. We are so happy we did not do so. My advice is to not hire Idel. But if you do, wait to pay them in full until all issues are resolved. They ignore you once they are paid. You are on your own to fix the results of their poor workmanship."

"In response to Idels comments to my review.....It is NOT true I tried to hire your workers for other projects. Two of them approached me to do work that they were performing for you. One was a cabinet guy that said you had designed the cabinets to not be strong enough, he wanted to â enhanceâ them. WE brought it to your attention, this was at the start of the project. The second was your counter top guy telling us we had PLENTY of left over material, if we wanted to use it, he would be happy to do other work with it, for us. The â electricianâ was a nightmare, we hired another contractor to fix all of those mistakes. Be aware, they had a previous owner that had a good company, they are not the previous owner and did not perform to those expectations."

"Idel Designs remodeled our kitchen. They demolished and fabricated a new one. They also took care of new floors, sheetrock modifications, countertops and tile installation. The process took over 5 weeks. The project was finished in a timely manner. The quality and service provided by the owners, Dennisse and Edward was excellent. They always answered messages and phone calls, proving that they care about their clients needs. We are definitely satisfied with the job and we would give them 5 stars!"

"Kitchen Transformed. Extremely pleased with my new kitchen cabinets. The staff at Idel were professional and courteous and finished the job on schedule. I was a little reluctant at first to hire them given past poor Yelp ratings, but considering that the posts were a few years old I decided to have them bid the job. I am glad that I did. Their bid was competitive and the workmanship top notch. Elio took his time refinishing the existing oak, which is challenging given the wood grain. And the installers lined up the doors perfectly. High marks. My only real criticism (not enough to drop the rating) was that even after sealing the kitchen from the rest of the house, paint dust found its way into the other rooms and onto the furniture. Nothing that a dust cloth and Pledge couldn?t take care of, but you will need to spend some time wiping down your stuff. "

"Andrea is the backbone of the company, very professional and prompt. Went out of her way and always smiling and informing us before the process started. Her rating is 5+ stars. The actual product is great. 5 stars Good quality- the installers very professional listened and adjusted to our liking while installing and explained why a change might be needed. Never rushed to leave and all installers felt like friends helping us out, plus always on time. They get 5 stars. Now the coordinator of everyone the project, came a couple of times, to tell the workers he got them another project... hence hurry up. Could not accept his mistakes, and tried to put us to blame and pay extra. Said fine then I’ll do it for free, even though you should pay the $60.00. It was fixed never called to check up. I would have rather paid up front and submit a services not what was promised, than having them finish and they have the leverage on us. By saying we need to pay for services done. Out of the 15 people we came across only one made it a bad experience. For the amount we paid I would expect some costumer service, from the “top” person. The products or labor was great, but this persons attitude made it bad for us. Thank you Andrea, and all the installers We live our Kitchen! "

"The cabinets are beautiful. Andrea did her best to coordinate things, however, there were problems. Specifically 11 pieces had to be re-done due to inaccurate measurements. Until we got Marcos to install the cabinets, the work was slow and not of the quality we saw from him. Good thing is they don't get paid till you are completely satisfied. Andrea is easy to communicate with. Today Aug 5 noticed that the frame around the microwave was loose. Contacted the gentlemen who originally put in the kit around the microwave. He told me that they usd the wrong screws, too short and that he never uses that type. He also reminded me that they had put back the dishwasher incorrectly which he corrected for us previously. So it cost us $50.00 dollars for his service call because of poorly done work."

"There was some miscommunication between the person who gave me the quote and the person putting the drawers and doors on. I ordered 6 drawers but only got 5. The bread board doesn't fit in the space for the bread board. I will need to have someone use sandpaper on the side of the bread board. It was a big project and I know everything doesn't turn out perfectly but I'm a little disappointed. But I wanted to get everything put back in my cupboards so didn't want to have to wait for them to come back another time."

"IDEL Designs did a kitchen remodeling and also installed 5 shelves next to a fire place. The carpenter use hot glue to install the units-, he did not use toggle bolts to secure the units to the studs. A week later one shelf fell off the wall and damaged the lower counter top. Owner passed the problem on to the carpenter who initially installed the shelves. It was discovered that all 5 shelves were not bolted to the studs, he only used hot glue! He was very rude and stated we were too picky. Owner still has not responded to email/calls to resolve issue. Would not recommend IDEL Designs since the workers like to pass the problem on to others. Satisfied with the cabinet painting - refinishing. The counter top was quartz material that they never finished polishing the bull nose edge. Get everything in writing and do not pay a dime until your a 100% satisified!"

"Our cabinet reface, new counter and backsplash turned out beautifully! We were happy with the initial quote and felt comfortable after a consultation with Rick. The project started a few weeks after it was original advised however. It was easy to get get in touch with the company to ask questions and they did redo anything we were not happy with. It would have been helpful to receive something with anticipated timeline of starting date and each step along the way and who would be the person in charge of each step. We had to go with what we were told from one person, but then we would hear something else from someone else. Which led to some confusion. Unfortunately, our job didn't end well as we strongly believe a crew member accidentally took our house key, but we haven't been able to get it back and it has never been found. Another unfortunate incident was that our first interaction with the owner, Henry, was when he called on the last day to ask about payment. We still had some concerns and were wanting a couple things fixed and would have liked the courtesy of him first asking about our thoughts on the work and his crew. The project did not end well, but the work was done well and everything was corrected until we were satisfied, so I would recommend the company. This was our first time getting any kind of remodeling done and that background knowledge probably would have helped. "

this was not a reface BUT refinish of existing cabinets my shop did not make any doors or drawers but refinished it all in the same color if there were any gaps in the doors or drawers due to our fault of installing hardware we would have gladly fixed as we don't get paid until job is done and client is satisfied we also provided knobs and pulls and gave them to you free of charge including the labor of installing

"Henry seemed very negative about the job I had for him - repairing some kitchen cabinet doors. Everything seemed "not possible". However he did get them repaired, but I had to have several redone. due to the wood being warped. And a drop down drawer was never repaired due to his"not possible" comment. For the amount I paid, I felt the job was not up to his standards, according to all of the 5 stars he received."

almost 2 years ago : I have done a $ 1300 job for Barbara in Del Mar Ca repairing almost 30Yrs Old Particle Board doors was a challenge specially when the Laminate that was originally used on the exteriors of the doors was to be matched exactly it took us several attempts using various jobbers to match the color after all the work and 2 tries we got the color matched : the hinges were as well original and being the home located a block from the beach the metal hinges gave up as well and needed replacement and matching I have been negative on the job from day one, but sure wanted to help !!! looks like my help was not taken well and I promise to try harder next time Home owner's Satisfaction is very important to us at Idel

"I decided to go with Idel Design because I felt like Henry was the most knowledgeable and understood my vision. He can be a bit rushed at times but gets the job done. I can't speak highly enough of the team that came out to do the work. They are top notch! We took our kitchen from dark cabinets to a creamy white with a brown glaze. "The finished job is fantastic. Getting to the finish line was a bit of a struggle at time. This was mostly due to lack of communication and patience on the Henri's Part. The intake process was a bit rushed, and you got the feeling that he did not totally care to get into details. But this is our home, we needed details, so we were a bit persistent and eventually got what we needed. The crew, at times, were a bit 'Not Me' when it came to questions about issues. This could have been alleviated by the PM coming by the job site. We were able to talk on the phone, but would have a nice touch to come by and meeting with us. Also, we have specifically told them our back yard was off limits as we needed to keep it secure for our pets. This was ignore, so we finally gave in and had our dogs sequestered in our den. One other issue was the doors and drawers. During out bid/intake we were told that the door fronts and drawers where take off site to be sprayed and sealed in a controlled environment. When the actual work was being done, it was revealed that they intended to do them on site. We did not have space for this. Again, no PM so we called and discussed it, and it our request was accommodated. You see guys, You know what to expect, you do this everyday, We don't. A bit more information upfront about the hows and why's would really help! "

"I must say that our over all experience with this company leaves much to be desired. After several attempt to correct mistakes we are now left with doors some of which have a semi gloss finish and two doors returned with what appears to be a matte finish. Don't ask me to recommend this company for any reason. What should have been a very simple cabinet reface and door replacement now leaves us with door finishes that do not match. Not Happy!"

"The owner is too busy and when you call him to come back to redo the work, he puts you off for longer periods of time. I feel that when I pay for a service and the workmanship is not of good quality & needs to be redone, it should be taken care of asap. It may be a cultural difference, but the owner talks down to you. I'm not ignorant! Just trusting....."

"Idel Designs refinished my outdated white wash kitchen cupboards to a beautiful honey color which coordinated with my hardwood floors. Henry also added a cabinet above the refrigerator which gave me additional storage along with new crown molding. He took out an old trash compactor and installed a pull out drawer for recycleables. His workers refinished a section of old maple kitchen cabinets with water damage that 3 other woodworkers turned down because they said it was near impossible to match the color of the other cabinets.
