"I needed some lights installed in my bedroom. I called and immediately spoke to a professional-sounding person (not a voice mail with a callback from the back of a truck on a job site somewhere). Chris from Ray Brown came to give me an estimate. Their pricing is simple and spelled out clearly. Their electricians arrived on time, were meticulous, and did a great job. I liked them so much, I called them back to install a ceiling fan and repair a broken outlet. One of the things I liked was they try to have the same electricians return to your house so they are already aware of your particular circumstances. Nice to see familiar faces and know they did such a great job last time. Will definitely hire again."

Follow Up: After discussing the master bedroom switch issue with Chris my wife and I are completely satisfied. Turns out that the type of fan I purchased does not allow a second wall switch. "The technician was just over 2 hours late. They did not reach out to me ahead of being late to inform me. I contacted them when they were 40 minutes late and they told me the Tech was "on the way now". He didn't arrive for another 1.5 hours. Once here, he was very nice and seemed do good work. Just the lack of communication was irksome."

I was not able to install these thermostats myself due to the wiring not being standard and the terrible tech support at Honeywell (Thermostat Company). "Project: Fix Existing Light Fixtures Received a reasonable quote, everything went well but it was later determined a simple light switch needs to be replaced too which was outside the original job scope. He charged me $ 50 to replace a switch that took him less than 2 minutes to do. If it was a separate trip/call then I can understand the extra $ 50. For PR, he should've made that 'on the house freebie' as a goodwill gesture. "

In Business Since: 1929
Ray Brown started in 1929 as a maintenance electrician at the Bassick & Bullard Company in Bridgeport, specializing in heavy equipment manufacturing. By the start of World War II, Ray was the only E-1 Master Electrician at the company - the highest technical designation possible. After the war, Ray started his own company, specializing in machine maintenance for all the major tool shops in the region. He grew to 10 employees, and proudly served Fairfield University for over 35 years. In the early 1970s, Ray's son Rich took over the family business, and continued in his father's shoes, embracing the family motto: "Dedication to total quality; if you're not going to do it right, don't do it all. Remember, people want good service!" Today, Ray Brown Electric is owned and operated by Chris Brown, Ray's grandson, who has over 20 years experience himself. His technicians are committed to state-of-the-art technical applications and excellent customer service.
