I too was bullied by this company, probably because I'm a single mom or just a woman in general. I was required to give a large down payment too. From what I understood I was only supposed to give $1000 to start but I was told it would be that plus a portion of the overall amount so he could order the materials. I think it was closer to $5k that he asked for. From what I understand I was supposed to give payment as goods and services were provided but I was made to give checks prior to each portion of the project was being done. I only saw the project manager when he came to pick up a check, he did not oversee any of the process. I had to work from home or leave my door open for the guy working on my bathroom. I would call for updates and he would say things like the plumber will be there tomorrow or the tile guy will be there tomorrow. These guys were always the same ONE guy that worked on my bathroom the entire time. The overall project took about a month, almost four weeks, when he promised it would take two weeks. When my project was complete, I went into the bathroom to find uneven grout, uneven painted walls, crooked fixtures, SO MANY THINGS WRONG. When I complained and asked for things to be fixed the project manager just got more and more aggressive with me. When I said I wouldn't pay the last $1000 until I was happy with the final product - because I hadn't even had a chance to use the bathroom yet - I got into a heated argument where the project manager became so enraged he was yelling at me. Pacing my house and yelling at me. After that, I requested to only work with the owner. Who was nice enough but I could tell they just wanted to be done with me. I spent over $20k for the remodel, sure that's probably not a lot to them but it is to me. Only reason I gave them this rating is because the bathroom is new, the water leak is gone and the mold in the walls is gone, I have a pretty and fully functioning bathroom now. I wish I could say I love it but quite honestly I'm still recovering from how horrible the experience was.

I suspect that, because of our advanced age, the project manager felt he could bully us. Example: the contract stated it is unlawful to require payment for work not performed or material not delivered. He required a $5000 payment at the start of the process, and later a substantial payment was demanded, or he would stop work even though most of the work was only started. The contract requires that for each phase of the process, before any additional payment is made, a release from any liens must be provided. They refused to provide any releases until the final payment is made.

Sean and Nick from build a dream were very informative and explained everything to my satisfaction, i d'ont know much about construction, but they explained everything. Both bathrooms were remodeled and demo went as cleanly as possible. I was very pleased with the results.

Sean and Matthew were in charge of our project to build a wall to wall entertainment replacement unit for our den. Demo was on 1/7/18; install was to be on 1/11/18. Actual install was delayed until 1/15/18 because they said they wanted everything perfect. Well, the unit arrived and the entire inside was unfinished. There were no holes for the "adjustable" shelves in the upper unit, and the lower cabinet's inside shelf was not adjustable. The top of the base unit was damaged and patched. They forgot to include the slide out shelf for the DVD player and we never saw choices of stain colors, so the unit needed to restrained at our house. The base of the unit was installed but was not level, so had to be pulled out and re-installed, and the rest of the unit for TV and books attached after the base was leveled. When it came time to install our new TV, they were unable to pass the wires behind the unit to hook up the TV to the tuner, DVD, cable box, and speakers because the base unit was installed flush to the wall with no space to pass wires, so they had to cut into our wall, or take the whole thing apart again. An electrical outlet in the base of the unit was installed without the plastic cover because it would not fit. This was because the back wood panel was not cut out big enough to accommodate the cover. The cabinet guy said this was the job of the TV installer, and the TV installer said it was the cabinet guy's job. We sent photos to Matthew and called, but nobody ever showed up to fix it. Finally this November, Build A Dream reached out to finish the project, which was paid in full long ago. The owner, Shay, contacted us and scheduled his workman for last Friday at 9:00 A.M. Again, nobody showed up or called on Friday. Build a Dream would have gotten a better review, had they completed the project as promised. We are happy with the final product, but we had to keep eyes on everything, every step of the way to achieve this result. We thought that was the contractor's job!

They also replaced the brick around my fireplace with stone and did a small electrical job. The work was excellent and the finished in two days. My only complaint was that clean-up could have been better. The stone had to be cut to fit in some places and part of the saw was over my lawn. The chips were not picked up and I ended up having to clean this up myself.

Great construction company, we hired them to do pavers and outside patio. They are very fast and very professional. It took them 2 days to go complete pavers and 4 days to complete our outside patio. Mathew, project manager is very awesome! He’s always on top and very informative throughout the whole project. Definitely will hire them for future home projects!!

Build a dream completed 2 bathroom remodel for me. Ty and his team were responsive and super flexible with changes. When I did not like the shower door that was first installed, Ty agreed to replace it with what makes more sense for my limited space and I only had to pay the difference. In addition, Ty sent a crew to replace the tile to remove the holes made from the original shower door. I love my bathrooms! There were scheduling challenges throughout the project, but mutual understanding and patience was appreciated. I would recommend Build-a-Dream to anyone! Super like!

I met Shay five years ago. Back then, I wanted to remodel my bathrooms and kitchen because we had mold. He did such a good job that I knew right away i want him to do all my future projects. He is a good guy and very trust worthy, he always addresses our concerns right away, he makes the construction in our house much easier than we remember from past experience, and I have been doing my house projects with him only since. We also called him a few years ago to pave our driveway and patio and it looks amazing still today. A year ago we called him because we wanted to knock out a wall in the kitchen and make it much bigger. The last time we did the kitchen, my husband chose the color of the cabinets. This time I chose a brighter color that I love. The kitchen now is so unique, there is a huge counter space, exactly like I dreamed, and I get comments all the time about how beautiful and how "one of a kind" it is. I love my new kitchen and I am enjoying it every day. I would recommend Build a Dream for anybody, as I had an experience that I wish for all of my family and friends.
