"Mottern did a fantastic job designing and installing a large flagstone-on-concrete patio for us. The work included excavating and leveling the site, pouring and re-enforcing the slab, and selecting and purchasing the stone, brick and other materials. In addition to the patio, Mottern also filled in an approx. 12 sq/ft section of brick wall where a door had been converted to a window. The filled-in brick and mortar matches the original 50-year old wall perfectly. Overall, the entire Mottern crew was prompt, responsive, professional, and very skillful. We would definitely use Mottern again."

"In my back yard I had a leaning brick wall. I called a few masonry places in the area. Most were very expensive so I researched online and found J Sanchez. Jose came over assessed the wall and provided a very reasonable quote. Within a matter of a few days the tore down the original wall and built a new wall. The new wall looks great and he added reenforcement to make sure it would not lean again. When the workers were finished they clean up and put everything back they way they found it. I would definitely call him again if I need any masonry work done."

Abel Rivas is just a great person to deal with.  We had a couple of miscommunications along the way, but Able would not allow us to end this job unhappy.

We met with Abel up front to discuss the job.  He gave us a fair price and was able to work within our schedule.  Removing the wall and path went seamlessly.  His crew showed up on time and did exactly what they were supposed to do.  I've worked with contractors in the past who do the job but can be a "handful," for lack of a better term.  This is NOT how Abel's guys operate.  They come in talk with you, work hard, clean up, and leave.  One of the guys didn't quite understand something I told him, so he got Abel on the phone to translate.  It was very easy to work with the team. The guys were respectful and responsive.

After the work in our front yard was done, and it came time to put the wall back, we did not really have a second discussion on what the wall was going to look like.  Again, Abel's crew showed up on time and worked incredibly hard.  However, at the end of the first day, although the guys built a very high-quality wall, we were disappointed in its look (the way the stones were laid was not what we had expected).  We let Abel know, and given past experiences with other contractors were thinking we were going to have a problem.  Abel's text to me that night was that he would figure out a way to make it right.

Abel came out the next morning, we both acknowledged that we could have communicated better with one another.  Abel then offered us several options including leaving the wall the we did not like (which technically fulfilled his contract) at a greatly reduced price, working with the wall to make it more what we wanted, or tearing it down and starting over and building what we expected and making us happy for the original agreed-upon price.

We chose the final option, and the guys finished yesterday.  The wall and path are exactly what we wanted.  Abel came by to check on things again, this morning, to make sure we were satisfied.

We have hired contractors on various properties over the years, and sometimes things don't go well the first time.  I cannot recall working with a contractor who cared so much that his clients were happy.  I wish every person I had to deal with had Abel's level of integrity and customer focus.  He is a great guy, and I would recommend you hire his company for whatever landscaping/hardscape you need.  Best Landscaping does great work, and Abel Rivas stands behind it.

"I have been meaning to share how wonderful XtraCare Landscaping is for some time. It was raining when I took photos, so I will update with photos from a sunny day when everything is dry (and a fresh coat of mulch is down). We cannot say enough good things about this company and their teams. Top Notch customer service and care. They are experts and professionals at every stage. They were extremely responsive and understanding whenever we had questions. This is our second time using XtraCare for a patio. We had a small flagstone patio installed at our previous home in Maryland. It was beautiful, and they guided us through each step, including going to the stone quarry to select the exact stone color, size & shape. We were extremely happy. We since moved to Northern Virginia, and after getting several quotes from local companies here, we were not feeling a comfort level for the design process and customer care with any of them, as we were spending a good amount of money on a much larger patio, this was a big deal. We were not sure if XtraCare would come to Virginia, but since we had such a great experience, we gave them a call and were thrilled to be able to work with them again! We instantly felt comfortable with the process, and knew we would have a beautiful patio, that would last. They guided us through each step with patience, attention to detail and understood the vision we had for our outdoor living space. We wanted a mixture of textures and ability to have different zones of functionality, including an area for trash storage and deck boxes tucked away, as well as a fire pit and pathways. We are beyond in love with our new outdoor space, and look forward to making many memories entertaining and enjoying it with family and friends.
