"Mottern did a fantastic job designing and installing a large flagstone-on-concrete patio for us. The work included excavating and leveling the site, pouring and re-enforcing the slab, and selecting and purchasing the stone, brick and other materials. In addition to the patio, Mottern also filled in an approx. 12 sq/ft section of brick wall where a door had been converted to a window. The filled-in brick and mortar matches the original 50-year old wall perfectly. Overall, the entire Mottern crew was prompt, responsive, professional, and very skillful. We would definitely use Mottern again."

"The repointing work was generally done well. Old mortar and bricks were removed and new bricks were installed. The craftsmanship was excellent. However, the color of the mortar used differed from that in the rest of the brickwork, so at present it stands out. Sixpenny said to wait a period and then re-evaluate whether any change should be made. I would rate this as an "A" but for the color difference in the mortar that was not expected. The chimney cap work was done well."

"I just finished Brick & Tuck repairs by Aalcon Company (Jim Alls). They were excellent, and they diagnosed the structural problems as well or better than the engineer. I was very pleased with their service and the quality work. They went ahead and did other minor repairs on the brickwork at no cost. They helped with exploratory holes to determine the structural issues, and brainstormed various solutions.Will hire them again next year for major paverstone work."

"We have nothing but great things to say about our experience working with this company. The project was well run. The workers were very diligent and cleaned up every evening before they left. There was a point in which the workers were going to lay pavers according to the drawings and clearly it was not going to look good so they stopped and immediately had their supervisor contact us and gave us recommendations. We also planned to reuse material from an existing retaining wall to rebuild the wall. The shape and height required us to need more stone. Mike went above and beyond to help us locate the stone that had been discontinued. They were always extremely responsive. If they were not able to answer the phone we always received a return call promptly. The pavers are beautiful, the wall ties in nicely to our pool, the fireplace is the favorite gathering place, the mulch, grading, topsoil and seeding has created a very welcoming backyard. They were very accommodating to changes. We had a stacked stone border around an existing flower bed that was up against the brand new pavers and it did not look right. They let us change the plans and incorporated a stone border for the bed which is just beautiful. What was a space that was never used has now become our oasis."

"Julio and his crew were the epitome of professional service. I cannot emphasize how thorough, punctual and knowledgeable they, collectively, know their artisan talents. I needed to have part of a brick wall that had collapsed replaced with new. Julio carefully examined the other remaining brick wall, and pointed out several cracks ( due to groundhogs burrowing from underneath, further weakening the structure overall) . As Julio pointed this out to me , I agreed that it was only a matter of time before the rest of the wall would fail. I decided to have half of the wall replaced with stone block . As my budget allows, I will definitely have the remaining brick wall replaced with the new stone wall. Since I had a positive reaction with Julio and his team, we discussed other projects that I knew needed attention. I inherited a 200+ year old house with my eventual desire to sell in the next year.
