"Southern Brothers was great to work with. They redid our entire backyard after we put in a pool. They fixed our irrigation, re-sodded the backyard, and designed a tropical paradise. The pricing was very competitive compared to other companies in Gainesville who seem to nickel and dime you. Shannon was super responsive any time I had questions. We had a few changes while they were installing the plants and the crew was super friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend for any landscaping needs. We even hired them to do our monthly maintenance!"

"Workers were awesome. I called the business on Friday morning and left a message thinking it may be a few days before I hear from anyone because of the amount of damage in my area. The owner called me back within about 30 minutes and said he would be out to give me an estimate by Monday. He was at the house on Saturday afternoon, gave me a price and said they could have the tree down by that evening. Since I hadn't planned on them being available that soon, we agreed on Monday morning. By 1:00 that afternoon, the work was done AND he gave me the name and number of a company I could use for other work I need done. I would absolutely use this company again and refer them to anyone needing landscape work."

"Once I sent her all the measurements, it took her a little while to get the options back to me. Overall, they're good designs. However, they're very simplistic and give general ideas for space planning. I was hoping to have a better idea for sizes of furniture for the space and some variations on staging.
Jill was very responsive when I did have a question. I'm not sure how helpful it is to have a virtual design done. If we lived in similar cities, I'd probably use her again for help with additional designs.

"Great, very professional, workmanship is excellent. The windows are beautiful and very sound proof as well as keeping the cold and heat out. Temperature of house with new windows is steady. As the door were being put in he cleaned up excellent. Had no touch up on paint inside or out, Great company to deal with."

Start by defining your goals and budget. Collect photos of rooms you love, jot down must-have features, and list what isn’t working in your current space. Share these details—and your target budget—during the first meeting. The clearer you are, the quicker a designer can translate your vision into a workable plan and keep costs in check.
Yes, working with an interior designer can help you save money. Designers prevent costly missteps, secure trade discounts on furniture and finishes, and coordinate the project so you don’t pay twice for the same work. Their upfront fee often pays for itself in avoided change orders, tighter timelines, and materials purchased at below-retail pricing.
A full interior design project wraps up in two to three months, on average, while a decorating job takes four to eight weeks. Timelines stretch if you add structural changes, custom millwork, or specialty materials, and unexpected shipping or permit delays can tack on extra days. Talk with your designer about project milestones and build in a little wiggle room.
Interview at least three pros whose portfolios match your style. Review their credentials and ask for references. During a face-to-face or virtual meeting, discuss your goals, budget, and timeline, and make sure their communication style and fee structure feel comfortable. The right designer combines technical know-how with a creative approach that clicks with you.
