"We had to have our front yard entirely landscaped after taking down several large tree. Because we wanted to eliminate a lawn, we asked Joe to create a landscape design that would be a natural alternative in order to conserve water, reduce the need for chemical fertilizers and pest control, and minimize maintenance. Since all houses around include lawns, we also asked Joe to design something that would not stand-out as a neighborhood oddity. Previous landscapers proposed cookie-cutter ideas that frankly were uninspired and likely to look out of place in our neighborhood. Then we met Joe. He talked about the practicalities of the project, but he also talked about elements of color, shape, space and texture. He directed us to an excellent nursery so that we could explore possibilities, and he personally assessed and modified our numerous choices to reflect what he felt we were looking to achieve within our budget. Joe also responded quickly and competently to questions and requests for changes as the job unfolded. I also want to add that Joe’s team was outstanding: they were on time and worked in all kinds of weather; they were polite and friendly and clearly had an established comraderie that allowed for hard work to be done efficiently, and I have to say, cheerfully.
