We contracted F&MndS, llc to complete renovation on a small (~8â x 8â ) bathroom. They were habitually late, hard to work with, lacked construction knowledge and not highly skilled. The first day, Friday, they were over two hours late, with no communication until we texted to ask where they were. They didnâ t want to insulate the outside walls because â Itâ s hard because the studs are irregularâ , but finally did, at my insistence. There were large gaps in the insulation and it was not stapled or nailed in place before the walls were added (see pics). They placed a niche horizontally after being told repeatedly to position it vertically, as itâ s meant to be (see pic). They sheetrocked over 4â of the one small window in the room (see pic). Told me they couldnâ t install separate switches for overhead and vanity lights. No plumbing or electrical work was done. ⠨They had offered to work on Saturday. We stayed home all day waiting. No word from them until late afternoon, responding to a text we sent. Same thing on Sunday. Monday, Mark said â weekends are optionalâ . Fine, but then donâ t tell me youâ re working and keep me hanging all day. Monday, Mark showed up at 9am, without a helper. Locked himself in the bathroom until 11:35. No sounds of work being done. I asked if he was ok, and he said he had a migraine. I gave him some Ibuprofin and he finally started working, nothing more than spackling. They had purchased â green boardâ for the walls, when they knew that we already had Kerdi board and all the materials to install it. They had already installed the green board before I learned that it is not meant to be used in bathroom areas that are tiled. This according to a phone representative of USG, the manufacturer of â green boardâ . When I pointed this out to them, they argued and insisted they use it all the time and this is what itâ s meant for. I showed them the submittal sheet, specifically stating that this board is â not suitable for use as a substrate for tile in wet areas such as tubs and showersâ ¦â , but they kept arguing and refused to speak to USG. Finally, they removed the board and wanted to install the Kerdi board, but by this time, I had lost all confidence and didnâ t want $400 worth of Kerdi materials potentially ruined, so I asked them to stop work and leave. They accuse me of breaking the contract by not letting them continue to work. When I tried to discuss getting a partial refund of the $1,500 down payment I made, Sareed refused and told me the workerâ s hourly wages and said â you do the mathâ . Wow. I hope my loss will help others.
